MAW MTB missions how to solve?

Hello,
Some MTB missions for MAW do not run well on my Vista system .
MTB3 Sicily att Large Convoy = Failed to load and monitor flashes
MTB5-Yug attack F-lighters = same
Anti-ship = game is waiting and on the top "mission is loading" in red

I will make new pictures of the last one , it's unreadable

How to solve?
Thanks in advance

Most of the time, when a mission fails to load, in the sim, or mission builder, it's because there is something missing, that is written into the mission.

It's a little pain, but somewhat easy to check. Open the mission to a readable state, and look over everything written in it.
Aircraft, ground units, ships, spawns, weather, and anything else.

You would need to check everything that the mission 'calls' for, and make sure you have it in your CFS3 install. That also includes pylons, weapons, etc. that anything in the mission uses. Also includes weather, spawns, or anything else.

Try opening the mission in the mission builder. Unlike the game itself, it shows a message what is missing.

You may have to do this after each time you have added a missing item, as it always shows the first item thats not found.

Cheers

Hi,
I installed the Mission Builder but when I start it I receive an error popup.

Where can I find this jpeg.dll?

Reinstallation did not fix the problem..:mixedsmi:

Edit Installed a found jpeg.dll in the MB folder and rerun = missing java.dll !!!!

After installing several .ddl required I have a "new" error and Do not know the next step

Si j'ai bonne memoire...

It seems to me having heard someone saying that some MAW files where corrupted. This may be the reason for your troubles. Perhaps a new download could fix it?

Bonne chance!

Hi Emile,

I'm sorry this is giving you so much grief. I have two questions:

  1. Did you install every ship & boat & facility asked for in the manual from the MTB/S-boot project and the GC site? These missions were tested well and have been incirculation for a while now with no problems. The "mission fail to load" typically occurs after a installed mission when some of the components are missing (as mentioned above)
  2. Before you installed MAW, had you already installed the mission builder into your stock CFS3 install? It won't work if you install the MB after loading MAW. I did this when I reloaded DPC Korea onto my new PC:isadizzy:
It's a pain, but it might worth while taking up Nonato's suggestion of reinstalling MAW and the MTB missions. Sometimes things can get so tangled it's easier to start again.

Hello BeauBrummie,
1/ I think I have installed all needed ships, boats and facilities... I think ... I followed carefully your instructions
2/ NO Mission Builder was NOT installed in CFS3 before installing MAW

Reinstall all ... OH I need to think about... :kilroy:

Thanks for your support

:kilroy:Emile, there is no need to re-install MAW.

Here:

1. Get the Mission Builder from M$: http://www.microsoft.com/games/combatfs3/downloads.aspx

2. Run the MB installer to the CFS3 install.

3. Go into the CFS3 main game folder and look for the new folder simply named mb and copy it into the MAW main game folder.

4. Go into the original main game folder and look in the uires folder there. Go into this uires folder and copy the folder named mb into the uires folder in the MAW main game folder.

5. Look in the MAW main game folder for a folder named The Desert Rats. Now look for a folder in here named Mission Builder Retrofit Files. In here, you will find a folder named uires. In this uires folder is a folder named mb. Go into this mb folder and you will find two *.bmp files, mbsplash.bmp and rat.bmp. Copy these two *.bmp files into the mb folder found in the uires folder (main uires folder) that is just inside the MAW main game folder.:d

And don't forget:

The target of the shortcut should be the missionbuilder itself ("MB.EXE" inside the MB directory), while the "execute in" (don't know the exact english word for it, it's just below the "target"-field) should point to the "mediterranean air war" - directory.

Cheers
