Hi all, when selecting spawns in ETO,PTO RS and PTO Solomon`s the screen pops up and the selector runs but on my desktop when i call up ''MAW Spawning Setup Utility'' and select say "mission mode" then ''configure spawns'' the pop up disappears without the usual screen run,is this normal or am i doing something incorrect.

That sounds normal. Unlike the other add-ons MAW uses a .exe file as a spawn swapper, instead of a batch file. The .exe does not use a command window pop-up, but unless you get an error message, your spawns should be configured.

Its easy to check anyway. After selecting mission mode, go into your spawns file and check that the air.spawns will not spawn any aircraft......All the mission mode is doing is disabling random spawns from appearing and mucking up the carefully and skillfully made scenario that the mission builder is trying to create for us.

Thanks guys! so what your`e saying is that legacy mode is the best bet for all spawning in missions and campaigns! i like the idea of re flying a mission with different opposition.

Hi alcanallen, I too like random spawns in a lot of situations. However they are a real distraction and can destroy a scenario that the mission builder has worked hard to create. For example, for a mission that recreates an historic event, the missionbuilder will have built in spawns to try to get the event to play out as realistically as possible. They often also build in a set of spawns, so each time the mission is flown there is some variability in number and type of aircraft, etc encountered.

If random air spawns are enabled, the entire crafted scenario goes out the window and if you are in a bomber formation the mission tends to go west fast....can be very frustrating if you have just flown over the Med in real time, for example.

So its horses for courses I guess. But for most missions built by a good mission builder, I prefer the no spawn mode, because there are plenty of spawns built into the mission.
