Maximum resolution for CFS3?

Hi all.

My 22" monitir is takin a dump on me and I'm currently running CFS3 in 1680x1050 screen resolution at the perfect widescreen aspect ratio. I'm looking to get a bigger monitor as a replacement. Does anyone know if there is a limit? Is anyone here running CFS3 on A 24" @1920 x 1080 RES? Anyone running it higher on a bigger monitor?

I suspect it will run in any resolution that Windows desktop will support, but I'd hate to get a bigger monitor and have to run it at a lower resolution and/or the improper aspect ratio.

Yes, it is. I have the two side monitors canted in a bit to provide a wrap around effect for looking out the side windows when I start to turn my head with the TrackIR on.
 
I'm looking into updating to a single 3440 x 1440 100 MHz g-sync monitor versus my current 3 x 1280 x 1024 60 Hz set-up. Has anyone tried this? I'd hate to get one and then find out that CFS3 cannot run at the default windows resolution.
 
Don't see why not - CFS3 continues to amaze me. I have been looking very closely at the curved LED 34" screens by Samsung, Dell et al. They are WQHD or something (as opposed to full UHD), about 3440 x 1400 ish. I like the idea of the curve bringing most of the surface to a similar distance.

Please provide updates!
 
My concern is that Microsoft never anticipated the 21.5:9 aspect ratio back in the day, and it will distort the image rather than running at the native resolution. This would be a rather hefty investment to find out it doesn't work when the only gaming I do on this system is CFS3.
 
Just as a matter of interest; on your earlier post you mentioned using 3 monitors. Was there no problem with CFS3 using track IR being viewed in all 3 monitors? I am about to set up 1 X 46" with 2 X27" 1920x1080's with a new BTX970 vid card and wondered if CFS3's view goes across all 3?

While I'm at it, I must confess I'm not doing much on CFS3 as I'm trying to master Falcom BMS4.33. This brings me to wonder if in CFS3 one can extract certain functions like maps and radar to other screens? The reason I ask is that Falcon BMS has programmes that extract gauges and MFDs as well as functional switches to other monitors and touch screens. I'm using the Matrox TripleHead2Go so as far as windows is concerned this is treated one big 36" wide monitor. The bezels edges end up looking like additional window framing when I'm in the cockpit. Somewhat annoying, but I've gotten used to it.

The TrackIR sensor is set on top of my middle monitor and I can look left and right to view the side screens just fine. The two outer screens are angled in about 20 degrees to provide somewhat of a wrap around perspective to my peripheral vision.

The only way I know of to not have CFS3 scale itself to use the entire display is to launch it using the -window command.

So that is a hardware solution. I was wondering if there was a software solution?

You lost me in the last sentence. Are you saying CFS3 will use all 3 monitors unless lauching using -window command, or the reverse?
 
-window will force it into a window that may or may not span across 1, 2 or 3 monitors depending on the resolution you're telling it to run in.

Without running in a window it will try to fill either one or all three monitors depending on the resolution.
