I uninstalled OFF P3 and cfs3.1a completely off of my system and started reinstalling. Here is the weird thing and I remember this happening the last time I installed CFS3. My dvd drive is my D:\ drive and that is what I installed CFS3 from. After I install it, and with Disk2 in drive D:\, I get an error that it cannot find the game disk please insert it in the E:\ drive. SIDENOTE: the only E: F: G: H: drives I have are Flash memory readers. If I click cancel a few times the error message finally disappears and the game loads up (every time I click cancel it asks to put a disk in E:\ drive, so its not scanning for drives that I can tell). So is there a way to tell CFS3 to look for the disk in D:\ drive? I'm afraid to continue installation until I have this resolved, as I fear this is what may be corrupting my P3 installing and making it act funny even after it runs. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks,

John

Sounds like a DRM issue to me although I've never experienced it with OFF. It happened to me with IL2 1946. So I'd load it from the exe on the disc via my computer.

Nope, No dice. It still gives me the error.

The exact error box is:

CFS3.Exe - No Disk

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive E:.

Cancel Try Again Continue

After 4 clicks of Cancel or Continue, the game will start up. Also this wasn't always the case, just the last few times I installed CFS3. Last time before this one being about a year or two ago. Also, patching all the way up to 3.1a doesn't solve the problem either.

Thanks,

John

"Safely Remove Hardware"?

I had a similar problem some time ago. I have an external USB hard drive that is always connected. I tried to install some software (can't remeber what it was ATM) and when I had to put in the second disk, it told me the disk wasn't in the drive and referred to my USB drive. After scratching my head for a bit, I tried Safely Removing Hardware via the USB connections thingy, thus disconnecting the USB drive. With it disconnected, the software loaded fine. Afterwards, I reconnected the drive and all was well. This is in XP. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply Zommoz. After thinking about your post, I realized that my card reader was connected to a USB connector on the motherboard. I disconnected the card reader and no more problem!!! Thanks a bunch for getting me on the right track. BTW if anyone has any ideas on how to get my card reader not to interfere I would appreciate it, as I would like to be able to hook it up again in the future.

Thanks again,

John

Cool... They say you should learn from your mistakes, but I am of the belief that it is always better to learn from someone else's mistakes :jump:. Not that either of us made any... it's just good to know my grief was useful to someone.
