Me109E Emil Available?

Is there a good one for FSX that doesn't have the prop issue? Freeware or Pay. I have the old A2A WWII Fighters, it's nice but it's really an FS9 port and suffers.

JustFlight has released another Emil for FSX (model by Aeroplane Heaven) http://www.justflight.com/product/battle-of-britain-me-109 Which I only know from early beta stages.

Both this model as the one by A2A have strong and weak points and I think it is matter of personal preference which model you like best.

Despite its shortcomings, the best looking Emil for FSX for me is still the WWII fighters one from A2A. I assume you have installed this FSX patch: http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=11065

One of the reasons to stick with the A2A one is the large number of repaints available

Cheers,
Huub

Thanks Huub, I forgot all about the patch, it was on a dusty DVD. Much better great a/c. Tried to attach a pic but the web was slow for some reason and I gave up. Now to seek some nicer paints for it. :applause:

Well, I really like the 109-K made by Flight Replicas:

daube_image1956.jpg

But the old A2A one is still looking quite good. The patch converts it to native FSX format if I remember correctly, which solves any issues with the props.

Indeed a beautiful model however its a Kurfürst and not an Emil.............. :icon_lol:

Cheers,
Huub

I wasn't aware about the different nicknames depending on the variant letter. In fact I have just read that on wikipedia a few seconds ago.
So that would mean that the "Emil" was a Me-109E then ?

The nicknames were indeed used to indicate the variants. However I don't know whether these were real nicknames or just the letters according to the German spelling alphabet.

Bf109 A = Anton
Bf109 B = Berta
Bf109 C = Cäsar
Bf109 D = Dora
Bf109 E = Emil
Bf109 F = Friederich
Bf109 G = Gustav
Bf109 K = Kurfürst
Bf109 T = Toni (officially Theodor) for the "Trägerflugzeug" (aircraft carrier based aircraft)

H = Heinrich, and K is officially "Kaufmann" (salesman), but perhaps they didn't find this name heroic enough....

As far as I know, the phonetic alphabet was slightly different between the branches (signal corps, motorized units, luftwaffe).
K could be Karl, Konrad or Kurfürst for example. Never heard of Kaufmann, though.

Cheers,
Mark

Salut Daube...

Hi Mark,

As you are from Germany you should know all about the famous German standard DIN-5009 :icon_lol:. According to this standard the K is really Kaufmann :icon_eek:
According the Austrian standard ÖNORM A 1081 the K is spelled as Konrad. Which is a bit odd as I personally would spell Conrad with a "C". :isadizzy:
Perhaps even more odd is the fact that in Switzerland the word Kaiser stands for the K. But I can't remember they ever had a Kaiser in Switzerland.....:santahat:

But you are correct about the fact that there were several versions. In the 1934 version K was Kurfürst and for obvious reasons Samuel was replaced by Siegfried.

Cheers,
Huub

Merci pour ces precisions ! Je pensais que ca ce limitait a la verriere et quelques elements moteur en fait.

I've been hesitating on buying the A2A 109 for a while. I bought the Flight Replica's as you can see on my screenshot, but it's not the "movies" one with the typical canopy...
However, given the excellence of the Flight Replica model, I pretty much gave up on buying the A2A one. Should I reconsider it ?

Went a lookin' for paints. Huub & Cees have been very prolific, so thank-you gentlemen. They are old, 2006, but I am sure you will appreciated that folk are still using your efforts. I'm way behind the curve as regards FSX even tho' I've had it since dot. Thanks again.

Les deux sont excellents...

Indeed, I sow your screenshots...
I have both, with FS2004, and both are excellent... Suspensions a little hard, but modelled, What is not still the case, even with the beautiful aircrafts, freeware or payware...

I suppose the A2A Me109 comes from the FS2004 WWII fighters (maybe to verify)... Then, you can find on the web many beautiful skins... Well, you cannot be disappointed..

Guys I'm a huge fan of just flight, but I still to this day swear the A2A Emil (with FSX'A update and Banabob props) has the best flight dynamics, best Cockpit, best engine sound and with the master work of our very own Huub vink also has the most comprehensive chioce of paint schemes, with and without the proper markings! Thanks for all those mate, Ithink Ive got em all, its one of those aircraft that they just got right! Long live A2A!

I took this a few years ago when I first got TrackiR5, was the old GTX270 lol.:salute:

Infact this was taken the night Spain won the world cup, we were all on here posting spanish historical aircraft lol just remembered that, its actually a "Kondor" gray paint job.

The A2A was originally part of the FS2004 Wings of Power II WWII fighters package. Other aircraft included in this package were the Spitfire Mk 1a, The P-51 D Mustang, P-46 D20 Thunderbolt and a A6M5 Zero. The package was extreme good value for money. I bought the CD version via First Class Simulations and when my memory is still correct, the price for the complete package was still under € 25.

Several free updates have been released including a few to covert the FS2004 models into genuine FSX models. Sadly there was no FSX patch made for the Zero, but the model works quite nice in FSX with the patch as well.

The models were already great value for money, but some stunning paintkits were released by people like John "Bomber_12th" Terrell and Martin "ICDP" Catney, which made it very easy to make high quality repaints for these models.

I assume A2A realised they could have more money out of these models and released some of them as "Solo Package". The Bf109E is one of these. The are still mildly priced, but $ 18.99 (around €14.81) is a lot more money than € 5 they asked for the original release.

When you have €15 Euro to spend it is definitely a purchase you won't regret.

It can be purchased here: http://www.a2asimulations.com/store/solo/bf109/

As said the JustFlight model is an alternative, which is offered for a special price of just € 7.65 at this moment. http://www.justflight.com/product/battle-of-britain-me-109 .

As I don't know the final JustFlight model I can't really judge, but I do agree with SOLOBO that the A2A Bf109 won't disappoint you. The only thing which I find really disturbing about the model is the CFS2 quality pilot in the cockpit.

Cheers,
Huub

Huub

I think you will find that Helvetia (Switzerland ) was part of the Roman Empire for a while.

In that case it would have had a Caesar (Kaiser)

best

Dear Nio,

You even confuse me more. Are you trying to tell me that the Swiss use "Caesar" to indicate the "K" which was based on somebody who's title was "Imperatore" ? :icon_lol:

Cheers,
Huub ;)

I bought the JF version yesterday, and it is really good and for that price it is a bargain and has lot's of good liveries. A2A's version is not expensive either and probably high quality too. Only thing that bothers me with A2A version is clearly wrong shaped nose of the plane, although A2A states it is correct. By looking the pictures, difference is quite clear. Of course I can't say which one is better overall as I don't own the A2A version and it depends on many factors. Their quality known, I bet flight charasteristics are really good. JF feels much like FR 109K-4 only lighter and less powerful, so I'd say it is pretty good too.

Here is a review of JF BoB series with some comparison to A2A Me 109.
