• There seems to be an up tick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

How exactly do the medals work?

Are they awarded for points? Kills? time alive? all the above ? or random after certain criteria are met?

When I went to the squadron screen I was informed that one of my previous kills was confirmed and one rejected.

The one confirmed made me an Ace and I was also awarded the Congressional medal of Honor (the plane i landed was really shot up...and it was a real rough mission).

cool award not sure why I got it though.

I figured as much DOH! so can someone else test this? I am playing with stock updated 1.25 files.

Oh and it's too late anyway, the government can't take it back can they?
 
I think it must be associated with the same bug as people getting the same medal four times in a row.

I can't see a file that controls it. I guess POV will shed some light on it.
 
Sometimes you may get something good for a good deed in game. Being badly damaged and heading on back into the fray for example - I'd say you earned it now get on with fighting?
There are medal improvements coming (small changes soon, maybe bigger later).

You just made my day.

actually I had never been as shot up and lived as I was on that mission, I landed a plane that was junked shortly after I assure you. I also was informed I became an ace...so a CMH and a confirmation making 5 kills makes for a hollywood ending...I LOVE THIS GAME!

"Naff"...now you guys have me looking up Australin terms :)
 
It's naff unless it's truly incredibly exceptional/rare. The medals, especially the higher ones, should really count for something, lest they be de-valued.

But if that's what happened in MK2's case...congratulations old chap.:woot:
