Almost three months ago, I was a little less careful than I normally am and for some reason when reaching for something on a shelf, pulled the power lead out of the wall and when re-booted, Windows wouldnt go passed the Welcome screen. Giving the box to a PC literate friend, he duly re-installed XP onto the system and when it returned to my house, it just sat in the corner of the room.
For some reason, I had lost all interest in the sim altogether, and showed no enthuiasm to go back to it at all. I have done a lot of real world flying over the last two months and just couldn't get started again. Being part of the team with Messrs Molyneaux and Horsey who create the FS2004 Austers available over at classicbritishfiles, I knew I had to get back into the swing of things and so over the last two days have finally sat down and re-installed and tweaked the necessary software.
This morning, I went for my first virtual flight for almost three months.
It was like meeting an old friend. It all felt so good again. Very hard to describe and although I have the chance to fly every week, sitting infront of that monitor felt so good again. Its a joy to be back!!
I'm not going to have everything back as had before - just my all time favourite aeroplanes (hard to choose) and local VFR scenery, autogen etc. As to AI, think will just limit that to what does fly over my house and not have TSR2s etc operating out of St Mawgan.
As the computer the sim runs on is not connected to the internet (it used to be...but now use a netbook for my emails and sim downloads), does anyone know how I can reload my Portland 02 scenery without an internet connection? I do have the all important key and remember reading somewhere that it can be done, but alas to date have been unable to find the relevant information.
Good to be back,
Best wishes,
Martin
