Memory question for XP 32 bit

Just a quick memory related question.
At the moment I am running XP 32 Bit. I have 4 gig system ram and a video card with 1 gig ram.

Since XP 32 bit sees just over 3 gig ram I am wondering which memory the system is using, or how does it swap between system and video card ram.

For 32 bit should I reduce system memory to 2 gig so the total is 3 gig including the video card.
For OFF v3 in their forum they indicate a video card with 1 gig ram works best, but if you have 4 gig of system ram will it use the video ram or not. I am presuming the same will apply for FSX as well.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards MarkL

XP does only see a little over 3gig. So, I have 2-1 gig sticks and 2-512mb sticks.
...And the video card only uses memory that it has on-board the card. Last I knew.
