Messerschmitt Me 321 and 323 Gigant

SOH Staff
About ten years ago I did models of these aircraft and with the recent renewal of interest in the German gliders, particularly the DFS 230, I decided to revisit them.

I was appalled at how bad they were so decided to give them, with the invaluable help of UncleTgt, a complete revamp. They are now ready for uploading and I ask Rami, our indefatigable librarian to delete the old uploads and replace them with these new ones.

Both a/c have been overhauled together with new dps which provide ratog capability and new load outs.

These improvements were in part inspired by Dombrals screenshots of the glider and He111Z combination

Hallo, Baldy,
would they be avaible, flyable for FS2004?
I never got a DFS 230 which could start with the trolley, drop it and than land on the center skid.
I broke out my teath when trying to resolve the problem. Never had an succes. When trying to land with out the trolley (landing gear up) the plane bounced never ending.

So it is in my library but I cannot use it.

Yours
Papi

Me 321 and 323

Hi Papi

I think we've had this conversation before - all my stuff is strictly CFS2 - however there is an Me 321 for FS2004 by Kazanori Ito over at Simviation and his Me 323 at FlightSim .

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - German

Description: Large assault glider, originally designed for the invasion of Britain but never used for its intended purpose. The main problem being the lack of suitable towing aircraft. Even with ratog assistance the Ju 90 or the triple Me110 arrangements were woefully under-powered. Only with the advent of the He111Z (twin He111) were tows really feasible - but there were never enough He111Zs. Never used in assaults they were mainly used for transport on the OstFront.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - German

Description: Very large transport aircraft developed from the Me 321 glider. With the fall of France the Germans found themselves in possession of a large number of Gnome-Rhone aero engines and these they put to use in a variety of ways, one of which was to add six ( initially four ) engines to the Me 321 glider and call it the Me 323. While this a/c had very large capacity it was very slow and vunerable. Used mainly in the MTO it performed well but on at least once occasion a large flight of Me 323s were annihilated by Allied fighters while flying from Tunisia to Sicily.

Baldy,

Thank you for your most recent efforts, and no problem on the deletes. In fact, I was going to ask if you wanted that done before I read the thread!

Gigants

Thank you gentlemen, your kind words are much appreciated.

Much as I'd like to take all the credit it's UncleTgt who keeps me honest and adds the finishing touches with his great textures and tech knowledge.

Well done Baldy

And thanks to our team of severely talented painters and builders who keep this sim alive and thriving

Ju 90 tug
