Micropose Task Force Admiral Out Now

Graphics look pretty decent. :) Years ago we had the Avalon Hill board game "Midway" aboard ship and I recall it was darn near impossible to achieve a windfall US victory over the Japanese strike force like what occurred in real life. You might deter them from occupying Midway Island but your CV's suffered far worse than just losing USS Yorktown.

I haven't tried the Midway scenario yet in TFA. I'm still trying to figure out the game mechanics. Managing the flight decks is a handful, while at the same time knowing the enemy strike force is probably on the way. :)

I was a huge Avalon Hill fan. Between my best friend and I we had a lot of titles. My favorite was 1914, but it was so complicated to learn it was hard to find opponents.

I'm still waiting (and have lost most of my hope) for Modern Naval Warfare to drop. :dizzy: :indecisiveness:
I really wanted to check it out- in 2022.

There is a tiny discount for the Task Force Admiral + Sea Power: Naval Combat In The Missile Age.

I've looked them over. I'm really not into 3rd person, "view from the top" games.

What I want is to use the OOD position in the bridge of a Virginia class SSN berthed at NS Bremerton or NS Bangor (aka KITSAP) and drive it north before I hook a left and enter the Straight of Juan de Fuqua. Then drive due west past Port Angeles and then dive once I have 600 feet under the keel. :geek:

Believe it or not, you COULD do this in Dangerous Waters or any of the Sonalyst games. It just took a while. You could also sail into or out of Norfolk and San Diego. Launching torpedos is fun, piloting and navigating the boat takes SKILL. :wiggle:

I played and still have both Sonalyst's 688I Hunter Killer and Sub Command. Both were awesome with their detailed detection suites. I bought Dangerous Waters but never really go into it because it veered away from a pure sub-sim when they added the other platforms. I also have Cold Waters, but it isn't at the same level as 688I and Sub Command were. Too generic for me.

Sub-sims are a favorite of mine, and I'd say hands down IMO, the one that does the best job so far of making me feel like I'm in a sub is the current "U-Boat". Light years beyond the old Silent Hunter series.

Phew!
I remember those AH games! "Panzer Attack" and "Squad Leader" come to mind.
