Microsoft Image Tool

Thanks guys. I have Martin's DTXBMP tool, does that work just as well for fixing landclass and water bmps?

Hey Wulf, Thicko is right about DXT.bmp. My problem is that I could never figure out the interface for 8-bit.

Also Dirty posted an attachment with image tool.

I slightly altered his instructions for your needs.

First; just open the BMP in "Image tool"

Then hit "Image"

"Format"

Choose - 8 bit

Then hit "Image"

"Format"

Choose - Create Mip Maps

Look on the right side. There should be 9 of them.

and then hit "save" and yer done!

thanks!

Just one question exactly what files should I modify to fix? I was looking in my Maskrider folder and most of the texture files are 86kbs. SHould I modify these at all? I have modified two so far and I haven't noticed any ill effect by doing it, but I'm still not sure.

Hiya Wulf, It would only be the landclass and waterclass .bmp's that are 256x256 sq. in your Scenedb/World/Textures folder.

And remember to check the ones in the CFS2 Root/Texture folder from when you had copy them over from Scenedb for the add on runways. They should be 86.4 kb.

The vertical black line (blending textures) and the 64x64 and 32x32 smaller .bmps should be fine. No need to check these...usually, since they are never changed through addons. Do Not change anything in the addon scenery folders such as MR Papua New Guinea > Texture. That could cause a heap of trouble.
Please see the piccy.
Hope this helps, Dave
