MiG-19/F-6 avionics problem

At long last being retired I've had the time to review in detail a number of birds in the hangar and, unfortunately, find some problems. The MiG-19/J-6 package by Yan Tao is a fine airplane, and fun to fly. I am finding, however, some of the avionics don't seem to work. The ASI and VSI work fine, however, the autopilot and GPS are inop. The instruments pop up upon icon activation. Getting power to them is another matter. I have conducted a careful search of the instrument panel, there is no "avionics" power button nor a hot spot on the panel to get them to activate. Using the assigned key(s) (in my case, Shift-Q) to activate avionics doesn't work either.

Hello SS,
One thing I have noticed in your panel cfg is that the GPS and radio stack seem to be missing some numbers. Normally there are four sets for each gauge, but in [Window01] and [...02] I see only two numbers. This could be the cause of the problems. I don't have this aircraft but you might check the original downloaded file to see if there are four sets of numbers for these gauges in panel cfg. If they are there, copy and paste them to your aircraft in the sim.

Another option would be to copy similar sized GPS and radio stack pop-up entries from another airplane's panel cfg. and rename them [Window01] and [Window02] if necessary.

Both of those window entries are identical to the default C172 so they should work. I have to admit that I do not know why they don't. Hopefully, someone who knows what is wrong will see this thread and respond. Now I would like to know. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Where did you get this MiG? I tried downloading it from Flightsim.com but my panel entry lists some very different gauges and doesn't have a VC entry at all.

I don't remember specifically when I downloaded it, but it was at least several years ago. It's the same aircraft that's on the FlightSim site. The panel that comes with the aircraft is not too realistic and has a dearth of gauges. Consequently, I downloaded and installed a replacement panel for the aircraft; you may want to go to FlightSim, go to FS2004-Panels and put in "MiG-19" or "J-6" as "Search" parameters; it might come up then if FlightSim still has it in their archive. That's the fun thing about working 15-hour days; you do things in a haze after about the 10th hour, especially if you're on BP dope because you've had ticker problems in the past.

I think I found your panel; it came off another MiG-19 by Capts D'Attomo and Quai and theirs has a virtual cockpit. That being said I would go to your aircraft cfg, look up the autopilot section...

This will at least fix the autopilot. Not sure if it will fix the GPS but hey it's worth a shot
