Milton's D18S

G'Day,

Some time ago there was some discussion about doing the D18S for FSX SP2.
Is That going to happen or is it just forgotten?

He seems to be getting on with it nicely

That looks like a military version that I have never seen. I was talking about the Beechcraft D18S that he did for FS9, specifically I'm interested in the amphib.

Hi Milt, long time, no see. :)

Although all my gmax source is available, I do not think anyone has asked for the amphib version, unless it was Joao Paz. He was working on one of the variants but I forget which. Not sure if he is still working on it or has set it aside.

As I do not (yet) have FSX, my current piddling is for FS9, FS8, and providing variants for CFS3, and CFS2.

The AT-11 Kansan that Chuck posted is a current WIP for an FS9/8/CFS2/3 version.

If you find an FSX version, please let us know.

Attached is a screenie of the amphib with a beautiful repaint that can be found (at least at one time) on Flightsim.com.

Hi Milton,
Yep it has been awhile:icon_lol:
I seem to remember that JP was going to do that now that you mention it. I'll have to contact him and see what he say's.

So are you thinking about getting FSX? Now that the "team" is doing some scenery for Alaska it really makes it worth it. Tongas is truly unbelieveable. Awsome would be a good word.:ernae:

Hi Milton,
I checked on JP's website, apparently they are using one from Simaviation. I downloaded it and see no difference from the original. I will install it and see what happens?

Found this on Flitsim.

I have those. The main problem with the amphib is it doesn't float right. Other than that they work pretty good in fsx, if they were converted like the Howard and the Spartan the frame rates would be a little better and tool tips would work properly.

Thanks Milton for the Beech 18 still good enough for me, slight adjustment to float settings and prop otherwise no problems except for missing ? texture on the main wheelhub on the cargo version of the float plane ?????

Simtech Beech 17 also good enough for me

Not a fictional paint the Beech 18 was the first aircraft owned by Philippine Airlines in March 1941 and The 17 was the second both destroyed in WWII, B+W pics exist so reg is correct, the exact colour is uncertain but somewhere near these colours, no logo's.

Milt this is what I have, the static_cg_height = 6.00 is a compromise between floats and wheels as the wheels are lower than the float contacts but since I only use this model on water using the pure land plane on land, the first PAL Beech 18 was actualy a land plane, do'nt think they had amphibs, the paint fits both so no problem there

Hi Rich,

Could you post the fix for the floats, your pictures show it sitting real pretty.

This is the pic I used to paint both Beech models plus a couple more of them in a hanger which I seem to have misslaid

I do not recall doing a 3-blade but ... at my age? LOL There are actually 10-12 different variants I did and one may have had it but I don't think so.

PAL had one "Pappy" Gunn flying for them. A real character who went on to help design the B-25G/H ground attack bomber. He flew one of the PAL Beech 18s early in the war getting military personnel out of the Phillipines but ended up having to leave his family in an internment camp there.

After digging around my files I found this, Pappy Gunn was the pilot on Philippine Airlines first flight
