All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase, but the metal lacks shine/reflections even when it is enabled in the sim.

Not exactly my experience:

First one is the one you pictured. Second one by Jan Kees and is a bit shinier, with multiple panel shades. Remember these are service planes, not polished up restored warbirds. Your picture however is a bit drab so I'm wondering about your settings. Light angle also is important.

Are you running v2.5 with the latest hotfix (12945)? If not, that's probably the cause of the lack of shininess.

Thanks guys! I do have the hotfix installed. I've got it fixed now by putting the bananabob envmap in the main texture folder of the bird. Works fine now!

Cheers,

Johan

Would you mind elaborating on the light angle you talked about Dimus??

I simply said that shine and reflection level depend on the angle of the plane in relation to the sun, that's all. Sometimes it shines sometimes not.
