Milviz PC-6 Porter Freebie

Does anyone have the now freeware Milviz PC-6 Porter working in P3D v4.5? Their website says it's for v4 or v5 and when I grabbed the installer and tried to install it I saw a window where you could select FSX or P3D v4 for about .5 to .75 of a second before it disappeared and then it tried to install to P3D v5 which I don't have! The files do not show up anywhere and I can't see that it tried to install to a fake v5 location somewhere. Is the free installer for v5 only despite saying v4 or v5 on their website?

As the aircraft is now unsupported there doesn't seem much point in contacting them.

Any suggestions?

I've come across several of those (and fixed most of them) in the other freebies I have. I found a very old thread on Avsim that had a link to a package that virtually re-did the DHC-2 Beaver and it is now a very stable and enjoyable aircraft in v4.5. I am also enjoying the DHC-3 Otter too.

What's the trick to getting the Porter to install?

I can't remember exactly but I think I downloaded all the MV a/c first to a desktop or other Windows folder then installed manually in the relevant folders.
Separately I could never get the piston radial Otter to run.

OK now I have messed up!. Had the Porter enjoyable flying in v4.5 today and just had to fiddle with something - was not displaying all lights - so did a "repair install" that borked my install - got a CTD on each go. So downloaded a fresh install and now only v5.0 and it asks for my serial number - which I don't have!

Got this snip from their freebie page. Hope it helps.

The download page says it's for v4 or v5 but the installer only wants to install to v5 which I don't have!

Hmm...I just checked and in my F: drive I have an 'APPDIR' folder but it only contains the MVPC6.ini file! Maybe I should try re-installing and see if that is where it ends up.

EDIT: I just re-installed and it did indeed dump everything into 'F:/ APPDIR' I have now moved everything over to my sim drive and I am about to test!

EDIT 2: I just tested and I do have it working now! I even managed a flight without blowing up the engine within the first 30 seconds! I also got my usual radio and GPS pop-up panels to work which negated the usual MV issues with their VC stuff. (y)

So you managed to get your MVAMs to work? If so, then maybe I can try your trick for my MV737 to respond in P3D V5.4

I didn't have much luck with the 737 in v4.5 Butch. It installed but didn't work very well IMHO. I'm not sure if the MVAMS works on the PC-6 or not. The only things I have selected are:

Load - Seat A
Radios - MV GNS530/430
Options - Ready to Start
Visual - Nothing selected

All the above settings appear to be true in the sim and then I have added my own personal pop-up panels for radios and GPS which over-ride the VC ones and are much easier to use.

As an aside, the 737 MVAMS functions in 4.5 but in 5.4 the gravel kit shows in all liveries. I think Milviz is aware of the bugs in it but quickly moved on to MSFS.

I don't see in MVAMS for the PC-6 all the options - engine condition, sound etc that the manuals says it should have.

This is what I have for the PC-6:

Load Tab
MVAMS_PC-6_1.jpg

Radios Tab (Part 1)
MVAMS_PC-6_2.jpg

Radios Tab (Part 2)
MVAMS_PC-6_3.jpg

Options Tab
MVAMS_PC-6_4.jpg

Visual Tab
MVAMS_PC-6_5.jpg

I don't know if that helps but those are my settings. That is the MVAMS app for P3D v4.5, I don't know if they are different for P3D v5+ or MSFS 2020.

I just checked the 'User Guide' and the screenshot in Section 6-2 (Page 15 in the manual) is definitely not what I see at my end! Maybe they pulled that section from the free version but left it in the manual. It's almost like they were trying to copy A2A's Accu-Sim functionality but dropped it for some reason.
