Mirage F1 conversion released

SOH-CM-2024
In 2005, Kirk Olsson created the final version of his classic Gmax Mirage F1 for FS2004. Since then, several developers did announce Mirage F1 projects for FSX/P3D but none of these materialized. The idea to fill this gap came from Frank Safranek and I took on the task of bringing Kirk Olsson's models to P3Dv4.5. The package is available on AVSIM, for details see the preview by Frank Safranek on Mirage4FS.

Really an outstanding work but...it doesn't work properly
in FSX :banghead:

Is it right or did I miss something ?

The documentation does say there are issues in FSX. Can you be more specific about what doesn't work?

Hello,

I am very happy about it since it is one of my favorite planes, if not the favorite !!:applause:
-Not prevent that for me it works very correctly in FSX, taking into account the limitations described in the read me!
You have to check that you have XMLTools in 32bits!
I made some change in the aircraft.cfg, like engine thrust,
-static_thrust = 14400 // 11090lbs
In the flight tuning, the ailerons that I found a little soft,
-aileron_effectiveness = 2.00 //1.1 //1.8
plus a few other cosmetic tweaks, and I find it flies great!
- Congratulations to the team for this excellent work!

And here I thought she flew great to begin with! Many thanks!

Performed a fun little test flight around Fallon NAS to get a feel for the aircraft. Consensus: She's definitely a keeper! And I'm not just saying that because the F1 is French, is great as an Aggressor, and is a childhood favorite of mine (although admittedly it helps).

Thank you so much to all involved! This is one of the most beautiful cold war aircraft ever built.

Now if someone would do the low viz grey scheme that the Spanish AF flew these birds in at the end of its career, that would be the icing on the cake!

Hello,

-
I would like to have some details concerning the posting on the INS!
Because it does not display the same coordinates as FSX, or an INS added!
(However this is not very important !!)

And also what is the role of the seers whom I surrounded?

For Priller, is it this decoration? (SpainPhotorealist)
If so, the old texture for FS9 / FSX, after sorting, is displayed very well on this model!
(As well as other decorations!)

It's on the list. Especially since we included the ability to configure an F1C with the correct tail mounted RWR antenna to make an F1M.

In the meantime, all of the textures already painted for the original version by Kirk Olsson will work with this new version for the most part.

Alain, the cockpit INS display only shows degrees with 2 decimals, the sim and your app use degrees + minutes/seconds. My format is probably incorrect but was easier to implement, the cockpit INS is inop anyway.

The "DIRIG" and "GS" lamps are on when the VOR/ILS picks up a valid localizer / glideslope.

The "INJ", "FON" and "ADF" lights are indicators for the afterburner state. Their operation is simplified because the sim SDK does not have the variables needed to replicate the real world functioning of these lights. In the sim, you should see them light up as you advance the throttle from max mil to the highest afterburner stage.

Henk.

Hi Alain,

That is indeed the scheme!!

As mentioned there are issues with the P3D version in FSX. Henk only listed the most obvious that I relayed to him. You have found another. :encouragement:

In your top image:
The inoperable INS was far worse in the display at one point. It works well in P3D but apparently not as well in FSX.

In the center image:
The three square lights between the RPM Indicator and the JPT Indicator are for the afterburner.
From left to right: A/B Injection light, A/B On light, SRL Failure Warning light. When the SRL light comes on I back off a bit.

The yellow DIRIG light and green GS light below it are triggered by the NAV/GPS mode switch by the Horizontal Situation Indicator at the lower right of the panel. And of course what you are tuned to.

In your third image of the F1M you can do it one better by making these changes in the aircraft.cfg file to get rid of the F1CT chin mounted range finder.

Code:
[fltsim.?]
title=gmaxF1C 200 RWR2 Ala14 F1M 14-53
sim=gmaxf1CX
model=C
...

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the plane!!! Is there a DRAKEN scheme for this anywhere to download? :encouragement:
No one has painted any of the digital camo schemes yet. You can always visit my website linked in my signature.
There is one of N571NM in the Tiger Meet scheme but it was painted for Kirk's original and is not 100% on this P3D version.

I think painting those digital schemes will not be easy. The textures are stretched a lot on top and bottom of the fuselage, I had a hard time to make the camo pattern look realistic.
