Mismatched aircraft in MP?

I'm able to connect no problem to SittingDuck's server but when I join I get an Aircraft mismatch of whatever plane he is allowing. First it was about 5 of the Albatrosses (alb_dIII_oaw_qc1, alb_dIII_early_qc1, etc.), then he switched to SE5a's and it was an SE5a mismatch. I do have all the planes named folders under "Aircraft" and all look to be populated correctly. I get no errors in single player. Any ideas?

hi gary

have the host machine allow one of the planes in his allowed planes folder.
that should fix it.

not an uncommon thing in cfs-3.

I allowed 3 aircraft in a game (dr1 and the 2 se5's) and gary got a mismatch on all 3. Is there something special on just doing one aircraft?

As SD said.. Whatever planes called for in MP by the host come up as a mismatched aircraft error on my end. SD changed the allowed planes, and then those planes were "mismatched". I have a clean install of BHaH 1.1 in Vista 64 and other than trying to join in MP it works perfectly without errors, including flying all the "mismatched" planes.

I have noticed that you have Vista...

GaryR,

I have noticed in your post that you have Vista...

It is not much the OFFManager causing the problem..

The problem is that OFF Phase 3 is using the original CFS3.exe, instead of Shell.exe (renamed) like OFF Phase 2.

Vista cannot recognize the CFS3.exe correctly.

This is no joke.

You will have to renamed that CFS3.exe to whatever name you choose as long it's not CFS3.exe... Or it is best to create another copy of CFS3.exe and rename it, like Shell.exe, CFS3vista.exe, CFS3mp.exe, etc.

Read this thread carefully:

I had spent a lot of time and testing this for the solution on the original Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3. I'm telling you.. It works!

Good Luck.

Deadmeat - thanks, I have it set up per PilotsDen's instructions but i'll do it again following yours to the letter and see what happens. As for OffManager, it isn't an issue as it isn't running at all. I run MP from a renamed shortcut on the desktop. I'm not stubborn, i'll try anything!

no disrespect deadmeat

but this has nothing to do with the plane mismatch problem in ALL cfs-3 based games.
you can fly a mission on line just fine and go to the next mission and some may or may not get the dreaded plane mismatch.
''FIRESTORM''
please give us the goods on the plane mismatch fix in the host selecting the planes in the planes list.

Yeah, gimme the goods! :woot:

All set up via Deadmeat'ss instructions to the letter and ready to test connect.

Roger, pilotsden, no harm there.

I'm glad I'm not the only one looking into this. Thanks!:woot:

I would assume the XP side is fine. However, the instruction for XP was there for Vista user to join the XP server. I had tested this with my XP desktop as well. When I had the XP selected for the OFFManager as host, my Vista laptop joining this server would not connect properly. I would get a tremendous 'jittering' on the screen doing it this way. Therefore, I had my XP 'skipped' the OFFManager command and go straight for the CFS3.exe core. This has solved my problem of this 'jittering' (shaking, etc.).

Let me know if you have found any new additional information on this problem or possible solutions. Otherwise, I just hope the developers of OFF Phase 3 knows about the VISTA issue still..

Thanks:jump:

nothing to do with xp or vista

it is a cfs-3 thing.
there is a workaround in that the host has to select any one plane in his planes list ant that usually fixes it.
however, that being said, if the planes list dosent match, say he has a bunch of addon planes. then they will mismatch.
cfs-3 is very very fussey on this issue.

pd

No add-ons here, complete vanilla install of CFS3 and BHAH 1.1...

yep

i have seen this many time.
i can go online with you guys tomorrow evening and get you sorted.
much easier on t/s

let me know.
pd

Is there a process to follow? I can test it here on my network. Just select one plane on the host?

select a plane in his mission list and see what happens.

pd

As I remember it never gets that far. I join a side and then get the mismatch error which contains the list of every plane the host has allowed. I never select a plane at all, just a side.

the host has to go to his plane list

and only he selects the plane in his plane list.

then you try join ,and either get in or you dont, then the host selects a different plane on his allow this plane in his plane list.

pd

it has nothing to do with winder and the boys

it is a cfs-3 quirk that will always be there.
you and your onliners have to work it out.

PD

Well, Deadmeat put up a game and I hooked up to him without an issue and flew a few coop dogfight missions. Other than some minor jittering of the AI planes it went perfectly well!

Thanks Deadmeat!
