Missions

No Dice

I know I used to know, but I forgot. Many of the addon aircraft I am attempting to write missions for will not show landing gear on take-off. Some do, some don't.

Someone kick me in the head please.

Most add-ons aircraft, at least those build with AF99 and AF5, are using an MDL610 model file. CFS1 a/c are using CFS1 mdl files. The headers are different and the model variables for the gears and airscrew are different too. The few add-ons a/c that do show gears and props were "morphed" by implanting the visual code of an MDL610 file into a CFS1 model file.

This was, I think, first discussed by Corrado La Posta and implemented by a few designers. Very few add-ons do work this way.

Hi Hubbabubba,

This sounds like quite the natural progression for your next aircraft project. I have debated on doing this also because it cures a lot of problems, but am still a bit hesitant because of other issues I ran into while SCASMing.

OK Hubba , that explains it. I have no problems with the scasm reworked planes from Corrado.

Hi guys!

You can find Corrado's tutorials at Flightsim (mptut01.zip and scasmtut.zip).

Typing "Corrado tutorial" in their search engine will do the trick...:kilroy:

It certainly is in the back of my mind.

CFS1 aircraft are not, BTW, salt of the earth when it comes to AI a/c. Leg retraction is done in a "now you see me, now you don't" fashion and propeller discs are made of three or four blades moving effects (what do you do when you a/c is a two-blade type?).

Well... food for thoughts...:kilroy:

Does that mean that the propeller blur effects are part of the CFS MDL and can't be removed? You might have noticed that I put those in manually with AF99 aircraft I have built. The Eindecker was an exception because prop was a bit slower (not by all that much) so I never put in the blur part.
