Whenever I have the MK TB! 1 in my my aircraft file, when I try to load the ME it says "failed to initialize database" and will not load.I remove it from the file, loads like normal. Not at my plane limit, any ideas?

Could be the max plane cap. Pull a few others out of the AIRCRAFT folder and try to load MB again.

Also that TBF is out of date. The OH TBF is much better.

Definitely not the plane limit, checked that first.Runs in the sim, but the ME won't load. Well I like this TBM as it is the TBM model, good for late war and since has depth charges, nice to use for ASW missions.

Dasuto, Allen is correct. Use the OH TBF instead. Its textures are demirrored, allowing you to use better skins.

The TBM1 was just an Eastern built TBF1 anyway.

The depth charge loadout can easily be added to the dp file using notepad.

Captain Kurt did a great late war 3 colour skin as part of his Satans Kittens campaign, I think he uploaded the repaint itself also.

If you're looking for late, late war Gloss Sea Blue paints, I'm not sure there are any yet, but this is what I did for Allens Avenger MkII (Fleet Air Arm TBF or TBM). With a change of markings, it can be made into USN aircraft...:encouragement:

I use the OH TBf as well as the "glide bomb" version from the "multibomb" download. Enjoy them both. I will try and add depth charges. Are there any out there that act like depth charges? Explode slightly after drop them?

and then at Simviation you can get Jim 'Rockster22' Jacobson's US Navy aerial depth charge he designed for his Martin PBM Mariner series:

Dasuto,

Unfortunately CFS2 weapons can only be gun, rocket, flak burst, bomb or torpedo types in order to do damage. This means we have a limited choice in the effect/ timing of detonation etc. we can use.

Depth Charges have to be configured as bombs, which mean they explode on contact with the ground or sea surface.

Similarly Homing Torpedoes have to run as surface running torpedoes - drop, running time, then bang, or as bombs - drop, bang

Even more limiting are mines - we have to make do with either the bang of a bomb, or a splosh of a drop tank. The drop tank would be preferable as an effect, but I don't think you can get the sim to recognise if your "drop tank" was on target or not, as it never registers damage against any target. For that, you need a "bomb" type weapon.

IIRC there are only 3 types of bomb effect. So, if you chose to replace one of these fx files with a visual effect simulating a depth charge (or mine) drop, then all bomb weapons that call this size in their dp file would behave in the same way. See how others have created the napalm weapon for an example of the limited choices we have.
