Setting up the Hawker Hunter with external tanks so that it can make the Rim Run. (Also checking out the pilot who needs a refresher course in type.)

David Garwood's new FSX version of the Hunter is top drawer. Please accept our appreciation for the wonderful aircraft.

Welcome Mike!!

Pay no attention to the rumors that you may hear from the locals along the way....:ernae:

Have a great ride!

:salute:

Glad you found something to fly!

Rumors? What rumors are we supposed to be spreading?

Down safely at WADB

Uneventful flight until having to thread between the volcanoes on to set up the final approach. More fun, that.

M- Your Duenna shows the destination as WRRB. FSX snafu?
So it seems. (This is Bima which is WADB in FSX and WRRB in FS9. Not really a snafu...I believe this represents a redesignation of the ICAO code in between versions of FS.)

WADB-WIHH (Bima-Jakarta Halim)

Will try some night flying over the Rim of Fire.

Safely down at WIHH (Jakarta Halim).

Beautiful sunset and then starry skies. Got a snap of the sunset at takeoff. And then a quick view of Tambora, the massive volcano whose 1815 eruption was heard a thousand miles away. The sulfur released into the atmosphere caused 1816 to be the "Year Without Summer" in Europe and North America and produced the worst famine of the nineteenth century.

WIHH-WSSS (Jakarta-Singapore)

Heading north to the bright night lights of Singapore.

Down safely at WSSS (Singapore)

A night landing. (Happily, no photographers...)

Thanks, Paul. The Hunter does have classic lines. Dave Garwood has done a terrific job modeling it for FSX.

WSSS-WMSA (Singapore-Kuala Lumpur)

Her Majesty's Government insists on the RAF Display Team's visiting the national capitals. This time: the Federation of Malaya's Kuala Lumpur. (Subang WMSA is the older airport which, as it turns out, will appear six years from now in 1965.) Again, a night flight.

Safely down at WMSA (Kuala Lumpur Subang)

Quick night flight into thunderstorms at Kuala Lumpur. No worries.

Snaps of the South China Sea fisheries and then the rich rice paddies of the Mekong Delta.

Safely down at VDPP Phnom Penh's Pochentong.

Peaceful little constitutional monarchy here, led by a reforming prince who wants to keep Cambodia neutral and out of the wars of Vietnam and Laos. (Sad to think of the horrors of the next generation!)
