"Moby Dick" On The Tele Now...

Uhhhhhh,.... Mr.Queequeg, which feature film would that be? Gregory Peck as Captain Ahab or the TV mini series where he portrays Father Mapple? Even though the movie was made back in 1956,...it still holds up quite well. The scenes with the white whale and Ahab plunging his harpoon into his massive back are spell binding....

At least it's not the 2010 version with the 300 ft. whale, a nuclear sub to hunt it and Barry Bostwick as Ahab.... Possibly the worst movie I have ever seen!

I just love to listen to old Fr. Mapple (Orson Welles) in the 1956 version give his sermon in the church (BTW that's a remarkable pulpit - a ship's prow, complete with bowsprit); it's a fine little talk about accepting the will of the Almighty and sticking to your guns no matter what others may do or think. I try hard not to miss this film whenever it is shown, this passage always give much cause for thought.
