'Mommy Dearest'

When I was a kid my mom threw me out of the car because I wouldn't show her the Christmas present I bought and had hidden under my coat. I walked home... 5 miles worth of walking. And no one arrested her.

I don't blame her one bit. And I bet there's more that have done it and not gotten arrested.

When I was a kid, my parents were constantly moving from one end of the country to the other........
.......but I was always able to find them !!

at 12 i was walking further than that to go fishing/hunting nearly every day.
most kids wouldn't have survived my parents. my mom was a house-ninja.
she could use any household item to make you submit. painfully. when she threw a shoe, she never missed. i swear she could throw around corners.
then when she was done with you, my dad wooped what was left of you for upsetting his wife. i've eaten dial, irish spring, and marlboro's. knowing i could survive them makes me laugh at ordinary every day dangers like crackheads and gangbangers. :costumes:

My mom had elastic arms...she could reach across the yard, the road and halfway across the corn field and grab me by the back of my neck, yank me back into the yard, and beat me with an entire maple tree...all while shucking corn for supper.

Remember as a kid having the argument with your friends about whose dad could beat up everyone else's dads? Well, that argument ended when three of my friends were over for a Saturday fishing trip and my dad, a highly trained martial artist, demonstrated his ability to bust concrete blocks and red bricks with his bare hands. On Monday, the three of them told everyone else that my dad could kill all the other dads hands down and not even break a sweat. Yeah, when Dad said "don't", I didn't!

Even after Mom deforested a good 20 acres of Ohio hardwoods making switches to bust my arse with, even after Dad kicking me across the kitchen with enough force my 8 year old body shifted an entire wall about 3 inches (I really deserved it...I punched him in the groin...he reacted according to his martial arts and USMC training), no one called the cops, child protective services never removed me from the home, and yet I grew up more or less normal, with a strong dose of respect for the law, for my elders.

Kids these days have it too easy, and parents find themselves with their hands tied. Time outs have proven to be ineffective, spankings are out lawed, and you can't sell your kids into slavery in foreign countries any longer...what are parents to do?

I remember when Dad taught me how to swim.........
Put me in a boat, went out to the middle of the lake and threw me in !!

Making it to shore wasn't too bad... but getting out of the garbage bag was kinda tough........

No, parents need to be held accountable. These days, people are more worried about themselves than their kids. It's evidenced by what happens when people under 40 get divorced. They want to relive their youth, and kids are just expected to deal with it.

All of the stories you guys have told so far (except for GT182) involve TWO parents, which meant that with the ass whoopings probably came healthy doses of love. There is nothing in that news story about a father or husband. Selfish thinking leads people to divorces, and it also leads to child abuse; and even further....your children growing up to hate you. That lady was CLEARLY thinking about her damn self when she wanted some peace and quiet. You don't always get peace and quiet when you have two little girls two years apart. She was probably being selfish when she had them too; like one would purchase a goldfish for a tank.

I hope this selfish lady gets publically beaten.:wavey:

you're joking, right? The lack of an
'I'm joking' smiley is creeping me out by making me think you're serious.:monkies:

Wow! They got cars now?

I usually had a leash (noose) around my neck and was dragged all over the place by my parents ... we only had one horse and no buggy!! :173go1:
