More Alphasim Freeware!

Jagdflieger

The Alphasim crew have released four more of their payware aircraft as freeware.

Three of them are of particular interest to CFS 2 and perhaps they can be converted. Time will tell. At any rate, they are here in the download queue and ready to go for FS 9 at present.

They are:

F3F Skynight

C-141A & B Starlifter

Martin Baker MB-5

I got all but the Martin. Must not have seen that one. I only tried to convert the Skynight and it did without a problem. I had to change the airfile and sound as it wouldn't load. It also came with an AI version with less polys. That one converted too and gave me about 20% better FR. The AI version didn't have a VC. It has a really nice 2D and 3D cockpit. I didn't put the gauges as they were FS9 and looked like a different format.

Thank You Alpha Sim. I have been wanting a Skynight to add to my early jet collection for some time...and now I have one! The MB-5 looks to be a sharp plane.

The MB-5 is probably one of the greatest WW2 era fighters never to enter service.

Phase 1 of the Skynight conversion is done and the plane looks great and flies very smoothly. Phases 2 and 3 (Gauges and DP file) will begin at some undetermined point in time and space.

Good news Obio. The "Whale" will be most useful in my 1950s CFS 2 installation as well as the upcoming Vietnam update by Dirtman and his crew of scalleywags.

I have started on the 2D panel re-gauging. I will be modifying the 2D and VD panels to remove the pre-assigned gauge holes. There are simply too many holes on the panel (25 of them) and I only have 17 nice jet gauges to use on the plane. There are holes for ADF, VOR, and others that I have never heard of and do not have a CFS2 compliant gauge for. And with all those gauges on the panels, the gauges are small and harder to see. I will remove the holes, place the gauges in a much more usable pattern and have them sized to easier viewing.

Conversion plans also call for "removing" the modeled on bombs/drop tanks and making room for real working drop tanks and real working 2000 pound bombs (which the Skyknight actually carried).

You can use some Cessna gauges to use as ADF... They use them since before WW2...
