A plane I have been dying for will not be now......just one more thing to push me away from this hobby......:banghead:

T-34C release immenent ! Sadly though, there will not be an FS2004 version, the sheer complexity of the virtual cockpit environment and the many new systems management features we have introduced are beyond the capability of the older sim to sustain. We are however now including a first-rate Turbine Sounds Studios sounds package and 100% authentic warning sounds recorded with the help of the US Navy, who have helped us create our first true Flight Systems Training package in this Turbo Mentor. Simmers seeking a 'true' flying experience will not be disappointed. Screenshots have been available in our Gallery for over a week now.

Yep I saw that yesterday....Had my hopes up for it and then....:rocket:...shot down again by another developer. Sooner or later they are going to realize that a significant portion of simmers are NEVER going to migrate to FSX. I, personally, and this is just me, will be one of those people. With over $1,000 of addons purchased for FS9, a greatly tweaked setup, and outstanding visuals and dynamics, Have no need for a new sim that adds very little and would put me back at square one. I will be saving my dollars, then, for FS11...and a new computer...and i will deal with the headaches then. But, rest assured...FS9 will remain on at least one computer in my house for a LONG time to come. I can respect these developers for their decisions but have a difficult time understanding why a 'slightly watered down' yet 'still FS9 compatible' model would not be a good move. Unless it really is that difficult to water it down and remove some or all of the non-FS9-sustainable functions. In which case, gotta live with it anyway. Ok sorry everyone for ranting. My most sincere apologies.

I believe that's exactly why there's no FS9 version. Well, either that or the fact that it's very time consuming. Believe me, if it was worth the extra time put into it, they'd do it. Why would they want to cheat themselves out of a profit?

Exactly...

I'm getting the feeling that we might have seen the last of FS2004 models from Alphasim. It seems that other companies (like Carenado) have also made the leap. Oh well, life goes on. ;)

Quite true...

But I think what bothers people the most is that AlphaSime was one of the last FS2004 hold-outs....They kept making FS2004 products while other companies moved on...

Although it does make one wonder....What systems are NOT sustainable in FS9? I don't think we need to look any further than the recently released F-86 from Jan V to see that 'systems simulation' can indeed be brought forth in FS9...Just a thought. Sorry again but this really disappoints me.

I'm not sure...
But I've heard other developers talk about the same thing. The key being when you START a product for FSX (can't blame AlphaSim for doing this), the process of de-tuning to FS2004 can be trying at times...

Jan's F-86 was started for FS2004 and the migration is a bit easier that way...

Actually FSX isn't all that bad.... I rather enjoy and like it now that SP2 and Acceleration is with it. I held out for a long time, but the dark side drew me in. :costumes:

I still have FS9 installed tho, but fly FSX more.

With the acceleration pack and a new quad core frame rates is no lonmger an issue in FSX. Having been involved in projects that have involved both FS9 and FSX, there is a lot of work in achieving a satisfactory result for both sims. Practically a new project!

Then the customers often expect a rather dedicated project. "it's just a port over" etc. So I don't blame them! This stuff takes time, in a world of accelerted computer and software development.

Cheers: T.

IMHO, the problem with FSX, MS doesn't seem to have their act together. There has been to much confusion / compatibility issues between the different service packs, Acceleration, Vista OS, etc.

FS9 will probably be my last flightsim platform as I can no longer justify a new computer system (with the good stuff inside) just to support a flightsim. Just another victim of outsourcing and the declining U.S. Empire....:isadizzy:

I WILL laugh my ass off if FSX does not run on the new MS platform that is being put out. This is why I never went to FSX, and won't.

I don't hate FSX at all, played it on friends computers and had a ball, and i especially like that you can still use fs9 with it...and that'd be maxed out. But like others, its not really a choice, as the money is not there. Ammo is just currently at a higher priority!:d

I run both FS9 and FSX. Each have their advantages and weaknesses. I think both are good sims and is a matter of setting up and tweaking each to get optimum performance & graphic capability. Still, much is great about old FS9 with all the large amount of addons in aircraft, scenery, and environments that bring it awefully close to FSX in many ways. FSX on the other hand has a lot of room to grow still and has outgrown many of it's early difficulties although it still has a couple of unfixable issues. I think the general direction of FSX is the way to go for the future. FS9 is here to stay for quite a while though looking at releases like Section F8's Sabre, it shows just how good FS9 still is. There will be many good items coming out for users of both sims for a long time!

Progress is not always a good thing
but it happens even if we do not like it
and then we learn to accept it
not as though we have much choice :costumes:
personally i enjoy both sims
but one day fsXI will be here
and who knows what that could be,
as my Father used to tell me
you cannot stop the world going round
it will with you or without you
you decide :isadizzy:

As was the case when IRIS Simulations announced their new F-20 Tigershark for FSX only. When asked about the possibility of an FS9 version, their response was pretty much the same.... I have tried some "de-conversions" from FSX to FS9. Suffice to say I was not successful in the least with native FSX freeware:banghead:, so I didn't want to procure a payware FSX model solely for the purposes of attempting a "scale down" to FS9.
