more problems

hurricane3

SOH-CM-2023
If someone can't help me with this ,I'am done. Every thing was going good till I installed Sandersons HurricaneIID Tin opener. Now when ever I go to either select a flight or creat a flight the sim won't stop cycleing views. It continually goes from one view to the next with out me touching anything. I tried deleting the FS9 config file but made it even worse. If no one can help with this I'am getting rid of FS9 for good.

I think this file came with some scenery too right? Someone can verify this but don't modules control things like what is kaflooey on you game, or some other basic file? These are selectable from the install discs so you could try copying all the default modules over and see what happens. And this may be dumb but did you try a system restore? Only you can decide how much effort to put into this.

When my game went belly up with a similar base feature like this I got fed up and just walked away for a time. But I got the itch again and just did a re-install after saving what files I could. I then slowly put it back together trying to leave out anything most recent that probably caused the problem. So far, so good.

saved again

In the continuing saga of my problems, I found the cause of what happened(I think) anyway it worked). First I admit I paniced and didn't think of I system restore. I did that and everything went back to the way it's supposed to be, being careful not to do a restore so far back that I lost the effects I put in.
I think the problem ,(at least when it started ) was when I installed the HurrIID Can Opener ,then tried to put in Sandersons IID which is the same plane only stand alone, I tried renameing it and put it in and thats when all hell broke loose. I guess FS9 doesn't like having two of the same plane ,the one I renamed didn't show in the aircraft list only the Can Opener IID and the sim went nutso. I did the restore put all planes back and thank God every thing is ok now. I even figured out my drop tank issue with the Sea Hurris. The trick is to push shift + w as I was told ,but then when the tanks get close to the wings let go very quickly and then push and realese shift + w.
It's late ,I'am beat and doing what I said I wouldn't do ,let this thing run my life.
Thankyou for the advice I might need it someday.

You need to make sure that the title line in the aircraft.cfg is unique, not just the name of the aircraft folder.

I too have sometimes added an aircraft that had some identical marker as one already there, but what happens is it just won't show up. But glad things are workable again. I know it's just a game but sometimes it is also a great relaxer and little escape from the toils of life. Sucks when that door is locked.

Couple more tips. Make a little reference sheet relating the aircraft cfg lines under [fltsim.x] )especially title, sim, model, and ui_manufacturer/type/variation) and the boxes aircraft manufacturer, aircraft model, and variation which are the only ones available under 'select aircraft' when the game is running. It will help when adding aircraft so you will know what will display. Then what I do is under 'description' in the cfg is copy the exact file name of the aircraft as it lists under the installed aircraft folder. This entry shows up in the 'description' box when selecting an aircraft so I can easily find the folder for any problems.
