Hi All

Maybe a stupid question but is there a function key to activate mouselook in FS9 or more to the point actually a mouselook in FS9

I have the F1 view utility but that only works till the mouse hits the edge of the screen and unfortunately when using adaptive mouse it just judders

Is there a way to edit FS9 to use a mouselook mode in VC from the off?

Thanks
Matt :salute:

Two options, both payware. Active Camera or Walk-and-Follow. You can find them both at simmarket.
I use Active Camera combined with F1View, which fills all my needs (especially the head latency... can't fly without head latency) well worth the money - some of the best money I've ever spent.

Camera trickery is all well and good, but I'd save your money for TrackIR, your head naturally moves slightly all the time, so will your FS view. No need for a mouse when all you need to do is turn your noggin. Also, regarding latency, I find myself naturally leaning into curves, almost the opposite of latency, which moves your viewpoint outwards when cornering, aka centrifugal force. When I'm cornering in my car at speed, I naturally lean into it, I do the same in FS with TrackIR.

If your gonna spend bucks, save up and get the big boy, not the little pretender, it'll change your experience completely.

Yep, I agree with JDTinballs....forget the "wanna-be" and go for the real deal. Natural Point Track IR system will totally change your flight simming in ways you would not imagine. Being able to look about the cockpit like you were in a real plane, being able to lean out the window and look down the side of your plane or around the high pointing nose of a tail dragger, being able to lean forward and get a closer look at the gauges on the panel....Track IR gives you all of that. And it is so natural...you just move your head, lean forward, lean to the side, lean back....natural and hands free.

If you are a bit hesitant to pony up $150 for a Natural Point Track IR system, take a look on E-Bay, you may be able to find a system cheaper.

Yeah the utilities i'd been using are all freeware so I was trying to keep down that track with the mouselook option, but I think ill save my money up over the next few months for Track IR

UKV,

I think it's the best option, I was really referring to the payware products being pointed out by EM. Rather than spend money on those two, save a little more for TrackIR.

The F1view thingy is still installed and used on my end, handy for going walk around in the cabins of tubes and zeppelins, etc. Combined with TIR all my viewing needs are met. You can pause TIR at any moment or set to fine movement with the function keys, makes toggling little switches easy, as it's surprisingly difficult to keep your head still enough to keep the mouse over a tiny hotspot or switch, exasperated if you've zoomed in as this amplifies your movements even more. using F9 or 12 makes it easy (you can change them if they conflict with your set-up)

If you do save and endulge, I'm pretty dang sure you wont regret it. Plus it works in other games too, check the web-sitefor a list, mainly sims and driving games.

regards,
Jamie
