Moving Cockpits

Sorry to ask yet another question but here it goes...

I asked this long ago(maybe 2 years ago!) and thought I got an answer that worked but can't figure it out or find it.

How do you remove or at least, minimize the G-effects/head movements in some of the custom cockpits? Namely the Fw-190 Dora.

I personally don't like it too much because 99% of my aircraft don't have it and I'd like my aircraft to be more alike in these regards.

do you mean the moving reticule?????

R
No... But that's similair to it. The actual head movements when you maneuver the plane. The AVHist FW-190 Dora has a beautiful cockpit but it simulates the G-Force effects and your head moves when turning.
The AVHist Spitfire 14 also does this. The Firepower ones also do this but to a much lesser degree.

All of the stock cockpits don't. The cockpit is like static display.

BTW...I don't like the moving reticule either.

Well...As far as the moving cockpit immitating the head movement is concerned, I don´t know if there is something to do. Concerning the moving reticle, some models have both options, like the Mustang by Klass 44 that you find here in SOH. May be if you take a look at his readme you get some ideas for a "fix" .

Sorry I couldnt help more...

AFAIK you can replace the cockpit.m3d in the aircraft or aircraft/model folder by another one taken from the same real life aircraft modelled diferently, or even another one (rename it exactly as the original one, and of course, BACKUP)
There may be some disperency between two different model, but maybe this should fit.
For instance, the Spitfire and Hurricane cockpits all exchange quite well.

Hope this helps ...

Thanks but I've tried this already. I cannot find any match with the FW-190D-9. That cockpit used on the AvHistory version, as awesome as it is is the only one I've found that actually "fits" in the FW-190D-9 model. It really moves a lot!
:frown:

I'd be happy if the stock CFS3 FW cocpit worked but it doesn't.

I'm pretty sure a couple years ago I was able to "fix" the TA 152's from Firepower and I still use them to this day. I just can't remember how I did it! This is frustrating me...lol!

There is also a thread around there (her ... in the old forum that got lost, maybe :banghead:) from someone that hacked the m3d file. Basically, it was a story of hex-editing the cockpit file and find and replace references to G-load or so to a fake one. Problem is you may as well loose some of the panel functionnality ... or the whole thing !

Maybe the guy will recognize himself ?

That might be it. I do remember Hex editing 1 time and that might have been it. Tahnks...hopefully more info will come in...I'll also play around with that idea.
