Sakishima-Gunto is the name of the island chain southwest of Okinawa, between the NE coast of Formosa and Okinawa. The Japanese had several airfields located on Ishigaki-Shima and Miyako-Jima from which they flew Kamikaze missions against American shipping lying off the coast of Okinawa. DevilDog73’s Operation Iceberg project, the British Pacific Fleet's operations against these airfields, is what got me interested in Sakishima-Gunto.
