Wasn't the DC3 source code included in one of the Flight Sim SDKs? I know the Jenny was, but I think the DC3 was as well...maybe in the FSX SDK. If so, I would love to have it so I can attempt to produce a fully demirrored DC3 for easier painting and without the passenger seats for use as a cargo plane.

Yes, I know the MAAM version is nice, but I don't have the funds or the inclination to buy it. Would rather produce a more usable one for free if at all possible.

The FSX DC3 Max file is included in the FSX SDK. The .max file was converted to a .gmax file many months ago, and is available from Freeflight Design: http://www.aerodynamika.com/aircraft/gMax_Douglas_DC3.zip

Dear OBIO,

I hope you will design a new DC-3!, I remmenber and have your Japanese Tabby for CFS2, I love that plane your Tabby I think is the only real acurate Japanese type DC-3 on the net that I know of, I have tried a number of times to modify it for just FS8, the air file will work okay for taxing and taking off is okay..but once you reach airspeed of 100 mph it starts to vibrate and shake itself to pieces. I have always dreamed of a freeware Douglas C-47 or DC-3 for FS9.

Cheers

You definitely have me confused with someone else. I have NOT EVER NEVER produced an aircraft. Modified/improved/painted a lot of other people's aircraft...but that is all I have done. My knowledge of Gmax is just about enough to model a Tic Tac or a Basketball...so I have no idea if I will be able to produce a new DC3/C-47 for any sim this year or next. I will give it my best efforts and either fail miserably or surprise us all with something workable.

half-a-mo', IIRC something tells me Mark Beaumont did something similar to what you're
trying to do already, for both the Fs 02 model and the Fs 9 model.

Hey Tim - you'd be my hero forever if you could fix the backwars left prop on that model! The mirrored that section of the model instead of actually modeling it again. And to make things worse, they reversed the rotation animation in FSX to make a DC-3 with counter-rotating props!:isadizzy:

Agreed! I'd sure like to see the port engine with a prop that rotates correctly. I'd also like to see a C-47. I know the C-47 is available via the Awesome4some package, but the nose air inlet is stretched out on that offering and looks horrible. I'd think no air inlet would have been a better idea, but no one asked me. :isadizzy:

Awesome4some? Is this that pack that has the Ski DC-3 by chance and were is it located?

Dear OBIO,

PLease accept my apoligies as I got confused in thinking you had done the Japanese DC-3 Tabby, I went back to take my foot out of my mouth and found that the FTDZ degin group had made the plane in two weeks, now I will E-mail gramps@sim-outhouse.com to see if they can offer a solution to the flight problem I dscribed.

Cheers

No apology needed what so ever. I just wanted to make sure that I was not wrongly given credit for the work of those with the skill and talent to actually do it.
