MS To Open High Street Stores!

The company plans to sell computers installed with Microsoft software and other products, Microsoft chief operating officer Kevin Turner said.

so eeerrrr just like every other shop that sells pcs then?? does this make any sense to anyone? Or maybe there just copying apple?

Yep... Copying Apple.. .

Have you been to an Apple store lately? Filled... Always tons of customers in them.. (They also look cool. Ever seen a 1 meter+ high iPod that works?)

The China store alone has HUGE amount of business....

Also, if you ever get a chance, go to the Apple website.. Tons of tutorials and eye opening mini movies.. I hope to integrate this into my planes.. Awesome strategic customer interfacing on behalf of Apple.. You learn all about the products before you buy..

I was at the local Mall a couple of weeks ago and found an Apple store. Must have opened just before Christmas. Didn't go in but it looked nice, and lots of customers too.

That 1 meter high iPod was kinda cool from where I stood Bill. Next time I've gotta venture inside and check out the place.

havnt even been in one, there isnt one around these parts, allthough it makes even more confused that Microsft thinks they can actually compete with them in the portable stuff, Appels cemented in very firmily just about everyone who wants an mp3 player have heard of the ipod, yet no ones heard of MS's Zune! puzzeling to be sure!

Our local Best Buy split their Computer section in half...one side PC, the other side MAC, which is a good idea since those PC'ers that have never been near a MAC can get a hands-on experience up close. Don't know how effective it's been sales-wise, but there always seems to be an equal number of folks on each side going back and forth.

Yep.. They did that to our local BestBuy last year. I got to see the Mac Air there when it came out.

Good point Stiz. This little iPod Touch is almost like having a portable Laptop in itself. Doesnt have a keyboard, but has a thumb-screen-keyboard, and is active/floating WiFi, so when I am near a WiFi zone, I am online automatically. Plus the gazillion of Apps (programs) available for it.

Yes, but MAC is known for their flawless execution. You pay a lot, but you get what you pay for. Their computers are like a communist government. Everything's integrated, and you must go through MAC for everything.--and it's going to work great without bugs. I choose to stick with PCs because I like how open ended everything is, and MSFS.

Microsoft will only fail if they try to be like MAC. Microsoft should stick with what they're good at, and it's not being like MAC.

Nope.. Not any more.

I have a SeaGate 1TB HD in mine, and my Sodium 4Gig Mem sticks I got for a mear $50.00. The HD was on sale at Fries for $99.00. Same with the memory.

The chips in the Mobo are also dual core Intel.

The days of extreme Mac only parts are over.

:d

Hmm guess they didn't learn anything from Gateway or any of the others who tried to go brick and mortar and failed.

I was at one in San Diego a couple years back and there was almost no one in there... the used games store had more people lol.

Apple is better at being trendy and has flashier commercials, I'll give you that. In fact, their commercials are probably one of the reasons Vista ended up the way it is. (Though 64 bit ultimate is by far the best OS I've ever used... ROCK SOLID)
