it was 104.7 f at 4pm in my yard,by the time we (ha!,,) by the time my brother inlaw got me fixed up..it was 99F inside,,,poor cat is panting again, found out wha a part of the problem was i guess...the 30amp plug was all corroded so i spent an hour cleaning the prongs and what have you, allswell now....whew....im still hot though

Dave if it is at that point and a window unit ya need to replace the cord and outlet because it will do it again. If it is the quick disconnect out side ya need to replace the quick disconnect box and pull out. What ya did here was put a band aid on that repair. If it is a 220 system what will start to happen is the outlet will start to ark and get hot then it will short out. If ya don't feel like messing with it there is another way. Let it catch on fire then your insurance company will fix it for ya.

the 30 amp "plug" is the main hookup for the 5th wheel rv,you think i need to replace all that stuff?..the box on the pole?..its an rv park type 30 amp box and the heavy black cord comes from my rv basement to the panel inside, the ac unit is on the roof, maybe its time i move......this thing has been "salvaged" once already

One sure way to prove what I am talking about is let the AC run for an hour and pull the plug out and see how hot it is. If it almost burns your finger you have your answer. When a circuit breaker, fuse, or quick disconnect get to a point of over heating you will start to have problems. Cleaning the connections will get you by for a spell but in the long run it will fail again until you have a melt down.

im not doubting you at all,i just hate the idea of changing this "stuff" on the rv..would mean i have to replace the 50 foot cord (30 amp),to the electrical panel inside the rv,and then replace the panel/converter,and possibly rewire other items.....i just cant aford that, one caviat, the plug in for the rv is on a pole thats a good 24 inches from the rv outside....

Can you post a picture of the box and the plug. I might be able to help ya a widdle bit, but I don't know what type of hook up ya have.

three pics,,one is the "inverter"/breaker box inside the rv,the second is where the cord goes into the rv,i hope the words are legible, and the third is the "box outside"

You can go to Lowes or Home Depot and get just the box and the plug for around 30.00. I brought one of those for my generator.

RV repairman just left..its the airconditioner itself,,1100.00 bucks for a replacement, getting a stand up deal from homedepot for 400 that cools 500sq feet(bigger than my rv)had nothing to do with the electricity at all really...other than safty reliece

there is a electrinic box, inside the vent part of the roof unit that hangs down into the rv cieling, with the panel off, just as it is about to click off...it makes a clicking sound, and POP....off it goes,,he gave me a part number, but the unit is 13 years old and no longer avalible, new one is 1100,00 bucks....so he bought this new unit..which will be connected directly to a 20 amp box that is below the box pictured( the 30 amp)it is a dedicated box to run a heater in the rv,instead of all propane, this new ac runs on 11amps so it will more than handle it,and ofcouse they will not be connected the same time
