My Dad's Dream Car

My Dad owned a '69 Charger 500, 426 HEMI, 4 speed. One of 30 made. He sold the car, because he couldn't afford to restore it. As many here know, he was killed in a plane crash 2 years ago. I didn't know where the car was, UNTIL NOW!
It is now fully restored! The shop "Stipmasters Inc." did the restoration and contacted my family to see my Dad's dream car. Here are photos from this morning at NAS Pensacola, in front of an f-18 Hornet. I don't know what's more beautiful, the plane or the car.
I know my Dad is smiling.

Great pictures Sean, I know that was a special moment for your family.

Seeing that 69 charger also brought back memories for me many years ago in my SS 396 Chevelle running against a Solid black 440 Dodge Charger R/T. :redf:
Those high powered Dodge Chargers were really something.

I once had a new Bronze 1965 Barracuda with a 440 Magnum engine and a Hurst five speed transmission in it. It was a going machine. My wife loved it and always brings it up as being her favorite car.
I wonder where that car is today.

Yeah, Clive, roger all that. (Except no Hemi in the movie)

Great looking car, Bonefish! One of those rare ones. Good to see it up, and running. Sorry to hear about your Dad.

I've got a (lol, lifetime) project car I've been fooling with for several years now. Understand the money bit, time, hard-parts-to-find, and so on.
Swapped even, a rebuilt plain-jane 69 Charger, for a 64 Sport Fury. The 64 had sat in a field for 'only' 7 years, and I've been fooling with it since.

Maybe I'll live long enough...

I owned and raced a 1963 Plymouth Savoy with a 426 stage 1 wedge automatic. She was the love of my life. All black with 14" slicks nicely tucked under the rear wheel wells. Had her up to 118 and 11.8 in the 1/4 not great but that was her first real pass and an oil line broke, but alas $$$$$ called a stop to all that. She would've run high 10's at 125+. A couple buddies of mine had a 64 Plymouth Stage 3 ran S/EA at 122 at 11.14 great car she was.

How I wish I had her now ........ :ernae:

Thanks

I knew you guys would enjoy it. It's going to a customer in California, so I won't be seeing it again. The shop owner is a great man for giving my family the opportunity to see it. I had been searching for it, and believe word got to him that I was. The Navy deserves a thank you also for giving us access to the plane (my Dad probably gave the current Blue Angel team their first ride in an airplane). The restoration cost $170k. That's why Dad sold it, because he couldn't do what these guys did. The car sold for $365K.
Priceless.

Ted...if you had your hands on a Hemi, that makes you one of the lucky ones!

My first car was a '63 Sport Fury ragtop. Had one of the so-called police interceptor motors in it. Yeah, wish I had that one back, too.
