My First Attempt to Capture an OFF Video Clip

Salute! All,

Since I have my new computer up and running and my copy of Over Flanders Fields BH&H installed, I decided to try and sort out FRAPS and capture what it is I am experiencing. Here is a 30-second clip I managed to capture last night. I apologize for the quality of the video and for the fact that I can't seem to get my TrackIR and FRAPS to work at the same time. But it will still give you some flavor of what I am now seeing when I fly over the front. I will also try and capture and post a few more as I go along.

OFF Dogfight Clip 1

It is SO cool! I am pulling a solid 40 to 70 FPS with all sliders at 5, (except for terrain which is set at the recommended 4), and with a 19" monitor set at 1600 x 1200. It runs absolutely smooth without any hiccups or stutters. And the TrackIR 4 Plus is awesome, (never had it before I set up this new system).

Many, MANY thanks to the entire OFF team. Your efforts and results are more than I could have ever hoped for in a new WW1 flight sim. The immersion quality and "feel" puts you into the cockpit of Great War combat so well that you can actually start to appreciate and understand what it must have been like for a real life World War One flyer.

I will be enjoying and learning this one for a long time to come.

:ernae:

Salute!

set your "record key" in fraps on any other key then F12 or F9. These are vital for Track IR.

There you go! Using FRAPS and TIR, all at once

Nice video...very smooth and a great dogfight.

(No comment on the blue text...but i will casually mention that it can be turned off in the CSF3config, should you so desire:typing:)

enjoyed the vid, thx for sharing it.

maybe put it on xfire they have over 12 million registered users, some of which might just see the vid. :)

Thanks folks for the comments. And thanks 77Scout on the tip about the blue text. I was wondering how the heck to get rid of it. I really don't like anything that spoils the vintage aerial ambiance.

Salute!

Lou

Fraps

Hi

Nice movie,,

I tried fraps once (let it run for a while) and got this 4gb file......

I know the output is uncompressed to make it run faster, but if you or anyone else knows how to compress the resulting files so that they are smaller, but still viewable by other people, would appreciate you sharing

Windows Movie Maker (it's in All Programs). :)

:welcome:Hi Lou! A hearty welcome to the OFF forum and the best dang WW1 flightsim there ever was. Enjoyed your flick but it wasn't long enough to bother making popcorn as I sometimes do. I see you are fellow Minnesotan. I really enjoy the world community here but it is nice to have you onboard as well. Happy flying to you and make sure to tell your friends about your wonderful new sim :wavey:

Go into the workshop, CFS3 config button, file, custom settings, window, overides, bottom of the left list and top of the right list there are a number of boxes pertaining to all that stuff. :)

Also please see the FAQ top sections explain how to set the basics up.
