My Guns have been jammed before.. BUT

This time I actually cursed out loud, and my being a gentleman prohibits me saying them in mixed company. Suffice to say I wasn't pleased, when after a bit of banking left then right, I said "Here is yours" and my guns were jammed. While I was feverishly squeezing the trigger, 3 more pilot's with Bratwurst on their breath, arrived on my six, and cooked my goose rather well. As I tried to make a landing ( not this time) the engine in my SE5a actually sounded like it was running on 5. Salude OVS

But with my pilot that can never die, I was put in a German hospital for 23 days, made a POW for 2 days, then escaped

Unfortunately, for Harry 22 days in hospital is MY limit, forced retirement :kilroy:

Feel your pain

I just finished a quick mission where I ran out of ammo. Headed back to base and found I had a black tailed jester following me. I scanned for an airfield, found none but did find an army base and raced toward it. I put her down close as I could and let the ground guns and AA have at the hun while I watched and listened. In time they brought the bird down. I cranked up the Camel and took off for home. A short time later I ran out of petrol, must have taken one in the tank, and glided safely to earth.

Next time you're forced down, while you're waiting and hoping for someone else to ruin his day. Hit (F5), the printed part of the HUD has a digital fuel gauge . . extremely sensative to a leak . . if you're just sitting there and that gauge reads 45.8%, and two seconds later it reads 45.2% you've got a minor leak.

Now some will say that's CHEATING, they're entitled to their opinion.

I say the WWI pilot could smell a leak, you can't !!!

Also comes in handy after a little air to air combat, if it reads 71.4% now, but 2 seconds later 69.6% nothing major, but look for a place to land.
Of course you could just continue your mission, and have your engine stop at 12000 . . Your Choice

F5 belongs on your joystick, for the quick check :kilroy:

PS . . F5 also features the ONLY Ammo counter in OFF

I agree Gimpy. Mapped my stick two days ago and F5 is on there. I did look at my ammo count it just did not occur to me to check the petrol. I was checking out that new rumble chair and enjoying the show too much. I'm just having all kinds of fun.

I have the same problem when I was trying to figure out how OFF3 adjustment was working.
next time use:
SHIFT + B = Opens the bombay doors, on the Strutter
D = Dive Brakes on the Strutter. . . Theoreticaly if the enemy is on your tail, fixing to ruin your day. You dive, once you're sure he followed, hit your dive brakes, in 1/2 a second he'll right infront your gun, scratching his head

That's the reason Winding Man included that little gem. Tooo many Newbies were going 'unlimited ammo' and shooting a rope of bullets down range. You can tell them, but they do as they please. No way to stop it, TILL NOW :woot:

I love hearing your life-like stories of success and failure. It really gives us the feeling that we accomplished our goal.

shure, but please do not stop your modifications/ad.ons/paths/updates etc. :wavey:

Hey, Gimpy, good advice, thanks.
Hi, Rickitycrate and OvS - yes, it's sheer fun; all is so beautiful, I don't even mind the crumpets shooting at me from time to time! I must be sim-drunk (sure, you know what I mean!!)

Had to post, I actually got a pilot to survive 4 missions in a row - a milestorne for me on BHaH...:woot: My Dr1 took on 2 spad 13's, and knocked 'em down. Lost one pilot in a N11 when got rammed by my wingie:faint:, another when hosed by ground fire at a choo choo station. Had a glitch too - crash-landed ( mid-month in - game); hospitalized 19 days, returned to duty on March 43rd ( some bump on the head I expect ). After the next mission the date resolved into April! I am so loving this, now my framerate is better ( found knocking off terrain & scenery lighting gave a big lift, without too much degradation of looks).
Fly mainly in VC when in a furball, cockpit on when yomping 2 & fro the battles...
