My Knee Surgery

FSX68

Banned
Had my knee surgery early this AM (29 Aug 13. I was 2nd in slot; 1st slot cnx so I was next.

Last time I had any surgery was as a lad of 5 yrs old (Tonsils). I'm 68 now. Time flies like a banana eh Jankees?

I had two torn ligaments. Think it was from too much walking before I retired last Feb. I went out like a light when they gave
me the sleepy juice. Made a couple holes in left knee ; on of 'em was for a camera.

I circled in red the ligament areas torn. Other stuff I have no idea what that is. Go back in one week to have stitches removed. Think I will take this photos chart in
and ask doctor what the other stuff is. I have my percoset for the pain and it is a bit sore.

FSX68,

Looks like you had a little meniscus work done as well, huh? Hope everything went well.

5 years ago, I had arthroscopic surgery done on both knees at the same time, to repair both of my ACL's and some meniscus work done, too. PLEASE don't do what I did, which was to use the pain and discomfort as a crutch, and not PT your knees in a timely fashion! :icon_eek:

Because of that, it took me almost two years(!) to learn how to walk again, because I was too scared to move past the pain quotient!

Now, they're pretty good; there's some slight grinding in both joints, but absolutely no discomfort when I walk, and I'm SO glad I can do that again!

Now if I can just learn to run and jump again!! :isadizzy::cowboy:

Absolutely,

Get back up and walking as soon as you can. I had my left knee 'scoped in 2004. I don't know what your experience will be, but my doc insisted that I get up and moving within hours after essentially having most of my meniscus removed with a dremel moto-tool (okay, maybe not that bad....but felt like it).

I was able to walk within a few hours with crutches, then with a cane in a day or two.

I was running a month later. It still bothers me now, but I hate to think about how bad it would have been. I was at the point where I couldn't walk more than a few hundred yards without being in significant pain.
