Ok,
18 airports covering the South Island and a lot of the North Island of New Zealand over the past 3 or 4 days and I didn't stop at half the actual number of airports, lol. I can scratch these off the list for next time though and spend some time seeing even more of this really beautiful country.
Previous posts allude to Land class and mesh that's available plus airport enhancements and I would heartily suggest at the very least you download and install the Land class, it makes a big difference in your viewing pleasure.
My average altitude during these flights was around 5000', average speed was 150kias, winds aloft were a major factor in tracking during the flights as they maintained a very blustery 25 to 30kts. I finished the flightplan in the Meyers 200D and I was really impressed with the flight dynamics of the airplane and it's ability to have both the power I needed to climb out of tight spots and the slow flight capability to slide into those same tight spots. Really impressive airplane. . .thanks Tim.
Most of the airports were within the 75nm range, some closer and one, the last leg from Stratford to Kaikoura was more than twice that distance, but you're flying over beautiful scenery, so the time goes by pretty quick.
I'm glad I did this, since I had never done any flying in New Zealand prior. If you were to add every addon available, both freeware and payware, I dare say this one little area of the world would be hard to beat for it's diversity and beauty. . . .actually it already is as far as I'm concerned. Give it a go mates!!
