My SBD Dauntless collection

Some pics of the SBDs I use for my missions.
These Textures are CFS3 Textures by Bravo/4 that I converted to CFS2 with his permission. They fit the Freeware FDG SBD5 perfectly.

Very Nice

Nice conversions, but I'm curious though. Any idea what the significance of the white star on blue vs the white star with a red center on blue, is?

Worthless: I believe the white star on blue is later war colors but I have no idea from what date.

Talon: You don't or (rarely) use the FDG "Donationware" SBD-3's and 5's do you?

The "star in circle" national insignia was used from 1919 to 1942. The red dot was removed since it could look like a Japanese "meatball". The tail stripes I think are neutrality markings.

Shadow Wolf,

I use them also. The Donationware SBD3's have textures for Saratoga,Lexington and Operation Torch. The SBD5's have the textures for Atlantic ops after Operation Leader, some Marine and RNZAF.

The only reason I use the freeware SBD is because it's easier to convert the skins for it.

Allen is righy about the red in the start, the RAAF did the samething and took the red out of their markings.

Talon,

I don`t know what equipment you are using, but I have to say, that I have a better visual appearance of the models
on my old Notebook.
BUT, first after I have installed newer drivers for the graphicscard.
It is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 with just 256MB RAM.

Even with the most recent original (catalyst) drivers, the edges looked exactly like yours, best example is the screenie of C46 with the upper and lower ends of the rear fuselage looking like a little stairway.

All better ATI drivers were not for the Mobility versions of their cards, but the 3rd party Omega Drivers work on these mobile ones.
You should try them, if you have a noteboook with ATI/NVIDIA card and there is a suitable Omega Driver offered.
With them, I have a much smoother appearance.

Hope it helps,

Jax.

PS: Besides, I like your pics ;-)
