Deb sent me off to the local Goodwill Thrift Store about an hour ago, with a list of things I had to look for. 2 cookbooks that she wants to add to her collection (Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child and The Joy of Cooking...she wants to find vintage editions of these books), a gazing ball for the garden, a nice 4 by 6 picture frame and a nice basket or two (Deb has this thing about nice baskets...ones that have the look of something an Italian or French lady would use to carry cheese, eggs, vegetables in).
Well, the store had no cookbooks (very few books at all), no gazing ball, no picture frame worth buying, I did find to nice small baskets that I knew Deb would like (she does).
Went to the checkout counter and there was a line. So, I stepped around to the counter where they keep the jewelry...hoping that today would be my lucky day and they would have some military medals or buttons or something of that sort. No medals or buttons or such...but they did have a bag of aviation related magazines type thingies. The price was a bit steep at $15..but I checked them out and bought them....it helped that I had a 35% off card...so got the bag for a tad over 9 bucks.
In the bag:
F4U Corsair In Action, Squadron/Signal Publications, Aircraft No. 29
Spad Fighters in Action, Squadron/Signal Publications, Aircraft No. 93
MAPS Air Museum, Air Show and Expo 2000 official program
United States Air Force Museum "catalog" from 1982...it has black and white photos on many many of the planes in the collection.
It is not often that I find treasures in the thrift stores...but today I did.
