NAS Agana, Guam

I did four years at Whidbey, 1974-77, in the A-6 Intruder community. Great duty station, especially for folks who like to hunt, camp, fish, etc. or who just love the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. The winter months can be pretty gloomy, with nearly constant rain and occasional freezes that make driving hazardous, but I loved it the rest of the year. And NC's right, a lotta guys end up living there permanently.

Cool stuff. My main draw is I want to go to the West Coast, but definately not to San Diego/North Island.. Want to visit the Evergreen Aviation Museum that is in Oregon. Going there and transitioning to a new aircraft to learn would seem like a win-win. Plus the Boeing plant is up river. I have been trapped in Mayport for awhile, and am looking to go see the rest of the world that I joined for. Unfortunately in the new Navy once you have a certain NEC that is the final nail in the coffin.

When I was active duty, my #1 career rule was to never lock myself in. Always leave yourself options. I never went up to Whibdy Island as there's not much use for a snipe up there, but I always heard good things about it.

Well I have tried not to lock myself in. Unfortunately this is the reality of the new Navy.. Hell anymore you have to send in a package just to stay in. I submitted mine in June and just found out today that I am approved to re-enlist/stay in for 1 more term. The rest of the people at my command got denied and now have to re-submit their packages. It is just rediculous. While I have tried cross platforming and such before I think with these new PTS rules and all it should be must easier this time. I was debating volunteering to go to Lemoore, CA just to go to a different platform/community.
