NATC Patuxent River, MD Corsair IIs

Navy Chief

Senior Member
Am in a SLUF mood today, can ya tell?

Here are some pictures of NATC Patuxent River, MD Corsair IIs, from different time periods. Not the numbering system on one particular A-7E 159296. The nose MODEX used to be the last three of the BUNO. But at some point, NATC changed it to be in line with the numbering method used by the fleet; hence the difference in the photos.

Note ALSO the difference in the tail insignia for NATC. There was a restructuring of the base in the mid 1970s when I was stationed there. When I initially reported, I was assigned to North Site Maintenance. As a result of the changes, North Site Maintenance was disestablished, and all their aircraft was moved to what used to be South Site Maintenance, and that division was renamed, "Strike Directorate".
