Navy Vet's dedication

Great to see this happen! I wish him the absolute best!

Thomas Hudner and Jessie Brown were honored by warbird owner Doug Matthews a couple years ago when he had his F4U-4 restoration completed to recreate the aircraft that Hudner was flying on that mission. This resulted in the story of Jessie Brown and Thomas Hudner becoming more well known over the past couple years. Here's more on that: http://photorecon.net/medal-of-honor-recipient-captain-thomas-hudner-ret

i find it odd that here in the US,most people..not the SOH veterans for sure..but most people in general have greatly forgoten about the Korean war,or just plain dont care.and yet in north korea the kids..if we are to believe what we read and are told, are taught to hate us with a vengance.i personally dont understand the hate.is it because they dont "own" the south?..are they that bitter?....is it because they blame us for the loss of life?..well they killed many of us,as well as many south koreans...they take no responibility for their own actions?...

Daveroo, I'm not sure about that myself. Before WWII, Korea was supposed to have been heavily Christianized through missionary activity. Maybe it didn't take. I think one big reason for this is the people of NorK have been barraged since 1950 with stories about the US using biological weapons in that war. I've never seen the basis for this argument, it would be interesting to hear their viewpoint about how this (allegedly) happened, and what evidence they have. Probably also because they've been told an outsider got involved in something that was essentially a "family argument."

IMO part of the average American's attitude stems from this fight being called in some quarters a "police action," or an "intervention." As you said, it was a "war," in every sense of the word. "Police action" makes it sound like an arrest went sour.

id not heard of the biological warfare weapons...man i hope thats not true,it would make sense to me as to why they hate us so much if thats true...i mean look at how those of us who believe Sadam Hussain did in fact have the so called weapons of mass destruction, and that he used biological weapons against the Kurds ,had a hatred for him,and to me,he had to have had some weapons and hid them ,i mean how did countries like Iran and Syria become sudden threats if they didnt get help from somewhere...

The location (approximate at least) of the crash site should be recorded somewhere in Navy records, since planes returned the following day to drop napalm on the wreckage. Good luck to Capt. Hudner, I hope he finds the site and recovers his shipmate's remains. :salute:

The North Korean people's hatred of the West in general and the USA in particular is due to it being indoctrinated in them from birth. School sports days feature games where the children run 100 meters or so and then hit a dummy of an American solder with a stick, and then run back.
Why do they do this? Because the regime needs an external threat to justify keeping the population in a perpetual state of fear and holding an iron grip over every aspect of their lives. If they didn't have to keep the country ready for war at almost any minute then the people might start asking awkward questions like, why the f*** isn't there enough to eat you podgy third rate Elvis impersonator?

The reason is understandable but offensive to people who believe in humanity. The regime there does this because all they have to offer is hatred and fear. Hatred of external trumped up enemies coupled with fear of having the state authority's finger pointed at them.

It's a horrible way to live life and time has shown us that such evil never leaves of its own accord. The worst realization is that the regime has done its job so efficiently that the only people who could liberate them are the very people they are taught from birth to hate the most -- South Korean and the United States!

Sad doesn't even begin to sum it up!
