Need a correct airfile for Ito's P-63 KingCobra

Ito maded one of my favortie aircraft back a few years ago, a P-63A KingCobra. However, he used a "turbine" engine (listed in the airfile as a "Type = 1" instead of a piston engine "Type=0"). As a result, it flies way too fast, accelerates way too fast, and cannot support piston-engine gauges.

Hasn't anybody else noticed this?

Has anybody done a replacement airfile?

Would anybody consider a replacement airfile for this?

Thanks

Hello-
There's at least 2 FDE sets (aircraft.cfg and the .air file) available for Ito-san's P-61... One is by Ricardo Jones, available at FlightSim I think, and the other should be around this site somewhere- it was made for flying the P-61 in the RTW race.

There are also a number of nice skins for it, and a nice 2D panel made by Lobo da Silva (Ito's model doesn't have a VC)...

Mix together all of the above plus a good twin P&W R-2800 sound set, and she isn't a bad ride at all...

Have fun! -Mike Z.

And I just noticed the same problem with the P-61 Black Widow. Too bad, because these are great piston aircraft and nicely modeled ... just don't fly right or support the correct insturmentation,

DUH... Sorry, must have been a senior moment on my part... I've gotta lay off of the cough medicine...

Fortunately, there's a FDE set for the P-63 available as well- the zip file I have doesn't have a readme file in it to say where it came from, but the cfg file says 'copyright Jerry Beckwith'. I'm not sure, but I think the files are on this site somewhere also.

-Mike

P.S. If you can't find them, I'll be glad to share the files I have... -M.Z.

Piston Version

Bill,
Well, I saw this last night and went and got model and got a piston fde made for Ito's P-63A. I guess it would take someone 2 day & 3 nights (hehe) to 'make' these, but after 10 years of working on most downloaded ac cfg and air files, it was a piece of cake. I did not have this model from Kaz Ito. I work on his stuff every day (or so it seems). I know how fraustrating it is to have 'type 1' and prop as standard fare. No bueno, but that's Ito. Feedback on any problem you spot would be appreciated. Enjoy.

New FDEs

Hey Gang,
I heard that the P-63A would not attain 400 kts so tweaked the air file and here is the new FDEs (version 3). It is the same otherwise. But, if anything is amiss I would like to know. I learn everyday, you know. Cheers.
