Need a favor from an AFCAD savy person

I have the RMS Titanic installed and want to re-enact its maiden voyage from Liverpool to New York...minus that big ice cube of course. But I have no Harbors to start from or go to. I need a person who knows AFCAD or what ever is needed to create a simple water starting point in Liverpoop and a simple ending spot in New York (Ellis Island would be good...is the Statue of Liberty depicted in FS2004?). Just need enough to start at Liverpool, plot my "flight plan" to Ellis Island.

And no, I am not going to sit at my computer for the 3 or 4 days it will take to make the journey. Auto Pilot!

Building harbors in Fs is always a treat. Can it be done with a start and end point like airports, Sure can by borrowing a little FSX magic. Let me dig into my Harbor scenery I have in FSX and ill post the two afcads you need. Shouldnt be to hard in Fs9. By the way ive sat for three days navigating a type UK 23 Frigate around Cuba and back to Mayport NS. What treat in Fs getting my cookies tossed during a hurricane:d.

Sorry I can't help you with the AFCADs OBIO but I must say that 'Liverpoop' should be entered into the typo hall of fame!

It's a classic! :icon_lol::applause::icon_lol:

Liverpoop...I typed that three times during my post...and only corrected it twice. I have no idea why my fingers insisted on typing Liverpoop...

No offense meant to anyone living in Liverpoop, Liverpool I mean.

I do appreciate your willingness to help me spend 3 to 5 days in my computer chair sailing the Titanic across the Atlantic. Definitely need to do this "flight" with real weather activated.

Yes, she is!

(Don't mind the Fw 200 Condor in fictual post-war Lufthansa livery, I was just playing around a bit...)

I haven't done an AFCAD from scratch yet, but I think some water runways won't be too hard to create. How long was the TITANIC's takeoff roll? :icon_lol:

Cheers,
Markus.

i imagin the Afcads would be the easy bit, the flight plan could be tricky, FS9 would assume your Titanic was an airliner and take the simply'd route between the afcads, up through the UK/Scotland,Icland,Greenland,into Canada and down the eastern seabored of the USA, the Titanic could spend half of her voyegu on dry land,
PS, didnt she set out from Southampton and stop at Cork on the way.
cheers ian

I think you are correct..the Titanic did set out from Southhampton, not Liverpool. Ooops. I think I need to do some research on her maiden voyage and plan this trip out real well befor I start it.

It would be intresting to know if it could be done, im sure that you can set your own way-points with your own flight, but how you'd work it out for an Ai flight/sailling, heaven only knows, good luck
cheers ian

Hi, OBIO!

I've just created a quick& dirty AFCAD for Southampton Harbor.
One "GA Dock" parking spot and a water runway, location estimated using Google Earth.

Should be up soon.

Have a nice trip - and keep clear of any obstacles... :icon_lol:

Cheers,
Markus.

Dangit!
Although logged in, I currently have no access to the upload section.
Seems like the Royal Mail Steamer will have some delay...

Watch out for Car Transporters (they use the old Titanic Dock) and stay within the Marine Precautionary Zone. Remember Sail is the Stand On Vessel except where the motor vessel is restricted in its ability to manouver.

Oh yeah and avoind Cowes week like the plauge (if you dont want to get run down by several hundred sailing yachts).

Welcome to Southampton Water and the Solent, enjoy.

:bump:

I think we'll have to start loading up a bunch of long-range SAR aircraft.. I hear the voyage is frought with perils

I always thought that the dock was in the 3 sided pool where the car transporter is, near the confluence of the two rivers. looks good though...

Im still workin on this. I just have to finish off reinstalling everything to my Windows 7 system. Im trashing Xp Pro Sp3 as I get better performance in windows 7 using Fs9 and FSX. So far no troubles reinstalling my payware and freeware.
