Hey guys,I have a question.I have seen some posts on here about being able to remove CFS3 after OFF has been installed and was wondering if it would affect OFF in any way.The reason for me asking this is that I am trying to free up some hard drive space and I have OFF running flawlessly and don't want to mess it up.Any help on this would be great. Thanks:help:

Rather you than me!!...... I may be wrong, but I 'assume' that would screw OFF...but let's see what some of the other guys say?

I would not remove it. I do not know how the two applications are twisted. Keep in mind, that you still need the CFS3 CD/DVD in the drive.

I imagine you could remove a lot of stuff you know is specific to CFS3 only, such as it's various pictures, textures, videos and the like. That would free up some space. But back them up, remove them, then test OFF. If it screws something up put them back.

Siggi, thats what I was thinking of doing but as I said I don't want to mess up a good thing.

If nobody else has tried it it'll be down to you. What's the worst that can happen, you'll need to reinstall both games.

Anything you KNOW is specific to CFS3, and simple things only, not data-files and the like, cut them to your desktop and then try OFF.

They're completely separate installations, so you can delete the CFS3 that you used to install OFF if you need the space (I think it was Aussie Pilot that asked the question first about this)
All the CFS3 files that OFF needs have been copied into your OFF directory.....DON'T DELETE THAT FOLDER!!

Gave it a try Gandi and it worked.I removed the cfs3 folder to a temp folder and booted up and flew some quick missions.everything worked perfectly.I haven't tried my campains yet but don't see any problems .I won't delete the cfs3 folder till i check it out. Thanks again guys.:Banane27:

I stand corrected!..that is actually great news! (although I have a fair bit of space..any chance to get rid of that CFS3 rubbish has my vote!!)

Just an update guys.I completly deleted the cfs3 folder from my system and everything works fine.No problems at all.:jump:

Just Curious . . as it's . . whatever makes your boat float.
In these days of HUGE Harddrives why would space be considered a premium, unless of course one attempts to have a Movie Libary on his HD.

As it stands, my HD has my extensive Musical Collection, as it negates the need for a stereo. My 200 Watt subwoofer, along with a .0% distortion amp. can't be beat

But that's only 29% Used. Memories of my 98SE Rig with 12Gigs

Hi Diveguy, as Gandi says, i did ask before but still haven't been game to try it.
It's great you managed to but i must ask how you did it.

Did you just delete the cfs3 game folder etc or did you remove it from your hard drive using the Add/Remove option via the control panel?

I'm just wondering what difference it would make, hence not having done it yet.

Hey Aussie,I just deleted the cfs3 folder.I didn't want to do the add/remove program routine.I was afraid of it taking out something that was possibly needed. But as I said all is well and everything works fine.

OFF BHAH works fine without cfs3. I did an uninstall on cfs3 and it did not remove anything that OFF needed. Now, I would have to reinstall cfs3 if I had to do a reinstall of OFF.

So aust, sorry to be repetative on this but are you saying you removed it from your hard drive via the add/remove programmes section in the control panel?

Doesn't look like it!... Reads like a right click and delete :typing:

(ah no...that looks like Diveguy's done that?)

What I did was use start cfs3 and use the uninstall option in the product itself. This removed all cfs3 folders etc. This did not affect OFF. I have a product called CCleaner which has an option to remove software from you computer. I think CCleaner essentially uses the uninstall option of the product, but I'm not 100% sure of that. I have used this in the past to remove cfs3 and have had no ill effects in OFF.
