Gents, I finally got FS2004 installed on my fast system with Windows 10. everything is smooth and great with exception of the opening display window for the aircaft. All I get is a black screen. Is there any way to fix this through the FS9.cfg? The sim performs excellently, so it is really no big deal when it comes to flying, just a nag in IDing the aircraft on the opening screen. Attached is a screenshot to show what I mean.

Thanks,
Cazzie

Try running in windowed mode click / press alt+ enter,
see the tips and tweeks section at top of the forum for win10 tips.

Its a graphics driver/ direct x issue, & youll also have to reinstall the dot net framework files if its a fresh win 10 install as they wont be registered.

Cazz,

I have the same problem too. But as Pete says, the problem doesn't exist when I run FS9 in windowed mode.

All attempts I made to solve it didn't work or had a limited effect, so I learned to live with it.

BTW its good to see you here again :encouragement:

Cheers,

As far as I remember, and if I'm not confusing with FSX, I believe that black preview window was the consequence of incorrect AA settings in the video card drivers (in NVidia Control Panel for NVidia cards, for example).
On my computer, it was occurring when I was pushing the AA to higher values, like more than 8x.
Check your FS9 profile, see if you can set a lower AA setting and check if that makes any difference.

I'm sure it was to do with AA settings too. First saw it when I bought a new GeForce 4200 (as did everyone else I know). Not sure if it was because of incorrect settings as such.. more the new architecture.

Windows 10 does work very well on my new system, no problem so far with FS9 except for the black preview panel, so I press Alt-Enter to go into window mode to see the preview properly and when I've made my choice I return to full screen. I do this sometimes if I need to, other times I do not need the black preview and just choose from the list and go fly.

Big thanks to all

Alt-Enter seems the only way. It works for me too.

Huub, until I used the no CD crack, I was limited to FSX on my new W10 system. Now that I have all of my FS9 up and running again, I'll be by more often. It is still the best thing MS ever did in a Flight Sim. And repaints do not take days like in FSX, I can usually knock them out in a few hours for FS9. Been busy watching the Cycle-Cross season and pre-Spring bike races in Belgium and Holland. Something to watch while I go about my morning chores in the house.
