Third jet in this row, BuNo 144608, was the "Project Bullet" F8U-1P Crusader in which John Glenn broke the trans-continental speed record in 1957. Sadly this bird did not end up in a museum, it was recalled to the fleet and lost in a ramp strike aboard USS Oriskany in 1972.
