Netbook advice - suggestions ?

Well, I'm starting my first year of college soon, and I'm looking for a netbook. I've been keeping an eye on the netbook reviews on Laptopmag.com, so I actually had three choices (all with similar hardware - N280 1.66 ghz, 1GB RAM, 160 GB HDD 5,400 rpm, webcam,...).

The 1000HE was at first available here in Belgium in black - my preference -, white, blue and, yes...even pink. Now it appears the 1000HE isn't available anywhere around here in black since they have other models with slightly better wireless performance, etc, only in the pink version - guess they want to get rid of their last machines but I don't want a bloody pink netbook :icon_lol:, so...

Second option was the 1005HA-H (Seashell) but Laptop magazine notes that the fan can get loud, and it would be rather annoying during classes.
Third option was the 1008HA and the best-looking netbook I've seen so far. A very slim design - bit like the MacBook Air IMO - but it has another kind of battery, not the li-ion most netbooks have. That implies that its battery life is considerably less than the other two, about 5:40 minutes. And it has one USB-port less (two instead of three).

I know Kiwikat has got an Eee 1000H or something similar, and there are probably more guys around here who have got a netbook, so I'm looking for some advice regarding these things. Feel free to suggest other models.

I'll be away with school for five days so I'll be back this Friday.
Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions :wavey:!

The problem will be if they run Vista,1 gig of ram will not run it well,if they are XP then it's all good.

I can tell you what NOT to buy. Recently I bought a Lenovo brand netbook from Radio Shack. Lasted just long enough, about 3 weeks (for me to set it up to my liking), and then it croaked.

My first mistake was buying from Radio Shack. The second, was that brand of computer.

I have a 100HE ( in black ) that I purchased just before
my 6-week trip to Europe back in June.

I also invested a few dollars extra in an external DVD/CD
drive and a 2GB memory module.

The 1000HE worked very well for my traveling needs...
downloading the 37 GB of photos I shot, checking my
email using both WiFi and LAN connections.

I never pushed the battery life much beyond 60% or
so, even when I was running in "Super Performance"
mode when looking at video clips. In "Power Saving"
mode I would see 8+ hours remaining when powering
up on batteries after a full charge.

I've not checked out their new 10+" models. For me,
the 10" screen is about right for travel ( I carry it in
a backpack ) and the weight is a BIG improvement over
the old Toshiba A15 that I used to travel with.
