Never a dull moment in NY......

The pilots did a great job of landing! Good thing that there were lots of ferry boats in the area. Glad everyone is safe.

I saw that on the news earlier. The pilot's cool head and skill no doubt saved lives. Kudos on the quick response by ferry pilots, police etc, too. Still, I bet the water was friggin cold!

Incredible work by the pilots to get that bird down softly in such a bad situation.

The news is reporting that more than a few of those ferry captains performed a similarly quick response on 9/11 by shuttling people out of Manhattan. These guys really are heroes.

Pesky birds! WHatever height he was, I reckon that pilot did a darned fine job getting that down so they only got their feet wet. Good show!

That's how things are in NY... we take care of you no matter where you're from, what you believe in, or what you look like. Big difference from 20 years ago.

Next time you have a flat tire, and a guy walks up with a NY accent, he's probably going to change the tire for you.... we gave up on mugging people years ago... not enough money in it. ;)

I heard about this on the radio today at work. Really glad everyones ok. Good thing the engines conked out when they did. Awesome job on the pilots part.

Ranks up there with the Gimli Glider I think!

Yeah they found out property taxes were an easier way! DOH!!! :wiggle: haha

Hey, OvS
Believe it or not, but for many Germans I know, New York is always a top five place to travel to (and not too expensive trip). Yes, I think, New York shows us all, that community can be done - together.

Pilots are special people; cool, with a lot of understatement. This Captain had walked through his watered plane, to check, everybody was really out, and then called his wife via mobile phone, to tell her, "they had a minor incident."
No joke - just saw it on the news. Pilots...

I think I've actually seen this guy on our employee bus. British shares a parking lot with United, US Airways, Cathay, ANA, and a few others.

When I saw his photo on the news, it just looked familiar. Chances are I've seen him as US Airways also flys quite a few birds out of JFK as well.

I'm just glad and relieved everyone was OK. New York needed this kinds of press for once... not the other type that involved planes that we won't forget. It's hard to look at that knowing you lost friends.

Superb job - he may have just been doing a "job" but he did it with ultimate care and attention to detail for the people in his charge and that counts.
S!
