No need to do what if Norwegian paints! Just to pick a real Norwegian 412 :) Or a dusty RNoAF 412 gunship from Afghanistan. Some nice pics of them on the web from their service in Kosovo too.

You are absolut right JensOle - but that`s all 412SP`s and after i got a lot of emails during my paintwork on the Bo105 from people that have never done a repaint themself but tell me what is wrong on mine, i decide to make fictitious Repaints for Military, Police and EMS. This give me more "artistic license".

Wow, are they gunships now!!?? I thought the guns were purely for self defence??

Thanks

They sure are no offensive capability, but as the Norwegian Bell 412's are rigged for the escort mission in Afghanistan with two minigun's they are pretty much useless at anything else than being a gun platform, and I see no reason for that the gunships word should not fit. As I know the world, so does not a gunship need to be a heavily armed and armoured Apache. And of course they use the guns just for self defense or for defense of other assets (as the medevac helicopters they are escorting), all Norwegian military capabilities in A-stan operate under that ROE.. regardless of it being a Bell or a CV90.

I go with the old term, with the gunship being an offensive capability, armored or not. In my world, which I guess is an old fashioned one compared to the above widened definition, a gunship is something that is just that, an airborne assed, fixed or rotor-wing laying down offensive/suppressive fire.... but I appreciate your explanation and I realise that we have differences of opinion. I do know that the guns fitted to the RNoAF 412s are pretty damn capable and able to make the threath keep their heads down but no gunship. I similary armed Chinook, could be called the same and that does not sound right in my ears. In the heli world, a gunship is an attack heli.

Oh and the repaints are great :ernae: I don't have the heli but I had a look at the textures :wiggle:
Thanks

Thanks

Start another paint yesterday - here is a "WIP"-shot of it - this time it is a "real life"-paint
