New Books

Before I left on my latest adventure, I picked up two new books to read during down time. Both are well worth getting and reading as they provide great back ground on the Imperial Japanese Navy and her carriers as well as the Battle of Midway.

"USN Carriers vs IJN Carriers" by Mark Stille and published by Osprey Publishing

"Shattered Sword" by Jonathan Parshall and Anthony Tully. Published by Patomac Books.

The first book is rather thin, but full of technical details while the second book is of text book stature and is the latest on Midway. It is primarily from the IJN view point and is very readable given that it is extremely arcane and authoritative in nature. If you've read "Miracle" at Midway and "At Dawn We Slept" or any of the other good books on the topic, you'll love these two books.

Agree about "Shattered Sword", it is the story about Midway that John B. Lundstrom didn't write, (he wrote the foreword).
Worth reading for all who find the Pacific War interesting.
